IDs please on Mr. Fugly and nasty white thing please!

http://www.canreef.com/photopost/dat...71PICT0014.JPG Found him on my acro, ugly little bugger, and creepy too. I was thinking he was an acro crab at first, but now I'm not so sure.

and

This seems to be stuck to the base of one of my other acro frags. It has a hard white shell and is constantly spewing threads out.

And on a side now, thanks to Muck I can finally post images on my own. Thanks!

Can't help on the first one, but the second one is a kind of "vermetid gastropod (snail)".

michika 03-28-2005 07:36 PM

Good snail? Bad snail?

Delphinus 03-28-2005 07:40 PM

Neutral I suppose. Some say OK, some say not OK. They're supposed to be harmless, except some people don't like the threads they put out ("unsightly nuisance"). I generally let them be in my tank. There have been a few I've used a tweezer and picked off (and then thrown into the back rubble behind the rockwork).

Ill just leave it then.

Ideas on Mr. Fugly? He's pretty nasty looking...

How big is the crab?

michika 03-28-2005 07:56 PM

small, probably about the size of your thumb nail from legs to legs. Hes about the same size of an acro crab.

Looks like one of them teddy bear crabs to me.

StirCrazy 03-28-2005 11:37 PM

the crab is the bad ones that I have observed eating my acro, they seam to be comming in on Bali shipments.

Alright then, he is now living in a measuring cup floating in my 'fuge.

So what do I do with the little bugger? Would he be safe iin my 'fuge?
