Anyone know where to find this solenoid locally?

I am wondering if anyone knows where I could localy (or even in Canada) a solenoid like the ones sold at www.autotopoff.com

I would like to use it with my RO unit to feed a kalk reactor.....
I would like to DIY a system similar to http://www.reef-relief.com/index-products-aatoc.htm
Thanks

Hi Joel, I just finished building one. I got my parts from Sterling Electronics in Edmonton. The part number of the Relay is ALA984H and was $5.40. The fellow working there was very helpful showing me how to connect things. The one I built has 12V running to the float switch which triggers the relay to turn on the 120V power head. Here is a schematic. If you take the schematic to Sterling, he will set you up with everything you need for the electronics.

I also added a 120V switch to over ride the power head.

THanks for the reply....

I may end up going this route but I idealy wanted to have a solenoid valve control my RO supply, this way I don't have to have a container of RO in my stand.

I just found this valve localy and I think that I will check it out

How are you going to control the solenoid? I would still recommend using the schematic I provided but replace the power head with the solenoid. This would allow you to have 12V in the RO reservoir rather than 120V providing that the solenoid is 120V. Just a suggestion.

Yep that is essentialy what I was going to do....I would like to get it all in to a nice neat NEMA 4 rated enclosure too.

HomeDepot has similar valve in their water sprinkles supplies section. Check it out, it might do the job. Our store carries this one:

What is the voltage on the coil?

I think it is 24V AC, but I don't know for sure.

Check out the hydroponics stores as well they have float switches

Mail order from www.mcmaster.com. They are American, but have a deal with the shipping courier Purolator for delivery. No duty and brokerage fees are levied and shipping is usually around $10.00.
