Leave me out of it :) Heck, leave you out of it too. It's between 2 other people that can choose to ignore or not ignore the other. There are filters to add people to ignore lists. Carry on, nothing to see here :)

Back to random thoughts:

Why does it always have to rain north east of Edmonton when I have to work on a highline of a new plant for the next 11 days.

so many skimmers so many choices so little money... lets hope my little side venture will help fund some new toys....

reefgirl189 07-04-2012 04:26 PM

Woohoo! I just put in my 2 week notice of resignation at work yesterday!

Can you believe that there is so much work around here that another company hired me, even despite the fact that I'm 5 months pregnant? Craziness, but I'm happy about it. I just wish I could have a martini to celebrate .

reefgirl189 07-04-2012 04:28 PM

Also, I'm thinking the tank is old enough to add a clam now. I just don't know if it's too risky for the clam with the copperband butterfly being in there. Anyone keep these two species together successfully?

Can u still get mat leave that close?

Coralgurl 07-04-2012 04:50 PM

Congrats on the new job!!!

I think you still get EI as its dependent on your hours worked during the period up to your leave regardless of where or how many jobs. Its up to the company whether they will hold your position for when you return. We hired a girl who hid she was pregnant when hired, after a month said she was 5 months and the company had to bring her back in the same capacity. Funny thing is she never contacted the company about returning and was eventually let go.

Reefgirl, if they hired you knowing you are preggers, I'm sure they will bring you back after if you plan on returning to work.

I'll have a drink to celebrate for you!!

Yes, absolutely. Maternity leave is payed out to you by the government. It works very similar to EI. You (general you) need roughly 630 hours accumulated within the year prior to your leave to qualify. Like EI, the government will pay out a certain percentage of the monthly wage you were taking home prior to your leave, with the maximum being around $1800.00 per month or so I think.

IMO that woman was very rude. I feel like if you are up front and honest with your employer from the start it will work out for you much more favourably.

When my new employer hired me on the spot during the interview I politely stopped him and let him know that before we get to that point I wanted to let him know I was expecting. Funny guy, he looked at me and said, "Expecting what? A baby?" The smart+++ in me wanted to say, "No, I'm expecting to make more than whatever they're paying you!". Luckily I managed to keep my mouth shut, lol. He then took a moment to think about it and said, "That's okay, we were going to hire you anyway". Cool, now I don't have to look like a douchebag when I tell you a week after I start that I'll be leaving in 4 months.

I wasn't even going to apply anywhere else as I like the work I'm doing now and I don't like bouncing around all over the place when it comes to employment. I prefer to get comfortable somewhere and stick around, especially while pregnant. Who wants to switch jobs for just a few months anyway? The problem is things have gotten very strange around here and there's a reason I built up the courage to apply elsewhere in my present condition. It was either quit or switch jobs, you know?

Anyway, enough about that... Have three drinks for me, girl! I'll just sit over here with my shirley temple .

i use to not get them but since i only drink now once in a blue moon it hits me hard lol:P

funny ive had all the stuff to do my cube for a month now, heres the kicker...new tank needs to go where the frag tank currently is....fragtank and the 90g need to go in the spare bedroom and the new cube gets plumbed into both of them.....ughhh alot of tearing down and plumbing lol wouldnt be so bad but the fragtank has about 100frags and a lionfish and the 90 is a full reef with fish. that said i do have some progress being made.....im doing a bonzai tree so my rock sculpture is made with pvc its all one piece, "sandbed" is made and lights are bought, equipment half cleaned lol

its the actual plunge thats got me lol once i start i have to finish..:P

anyone want to do it for a dozen frags lol??????

Leah 07-08-2012 06:44 PM

I will.... but first I may need a lift out to Vegas.
