Day 8: Since my last update I have now added a mp40 to the back of the tank and running in nutrient export mode. I've also connected the PH and ORP probes and I will have to recalibrate them for accuracy. The JBJ auto top off is set and I am only experiencing 5 gallons of water evaporation over the week. the skimmer seems to be skimming well... Pulling clean foam and still using the same filter sock since day 1 ( Guess I did a pretty good job in rinsing the sand ) ... This is going to be as clean as its gonna get. I am still adding MB7 daily and if all is well... I will be adding the fish back to the 120.
Here is a iPhone pic taken yesterday... http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps01252d7e.jpg |

Hey Wayne, i have a really pretty pink tabling acro for you (not sure of the species name), but she's a beauty. So when ur ready, she's all yours!
I love all your negative space in the tank, looks great. |

But yeah, my guess is 50 frags in 6 months |
LOVE your new set-up! Just wondering why did you switch over to the Tunze's?

I have just completed a water test tonight and it looks like I may have miscalculated the amount of salt needed...
Ca: 360 Mg: 1090 Alk: 5.6 PO4: 0 NO3: 0 PH: 7.99-8.07 ( have not calibrated the probe yet) ORP: 325-360 ( have not calibrated the probe yet) Salinity: 1.021 Temp: 79.8-80.0 Good news is that nitrate an phosphate are undetectable (0). Will add more salt tonight and then retest in couple days. |
Retested the Water tonight...
Ca: 380 Mg: 1050 Alk: 6.4 PO4: 0 NO3: 0 PH: 7.98-8.08 ( have not calibrated the probe yet) ORP: 331-360 ( have not calibrated the probe yet) Salinity: 1.024 Temp: 79.8-80.0 Salinity is acceptable, increase in Alk, slight increase in Ca and slight decrease in Mg. Set up the phosban reactor running biopellets and will be setting up the doser tomorrow to bring Ca, Mg and Alk up. |
So come get some frags already!!
|
Just a small update. I've transferred the fish over to the main tank today. Looks like the transfer went well.

Do you feel bad keeping these in an environment that is so unnatural? Poor things need some corals!

Day 19: water test...
Ca: 360 Mg: 1215 Alk: 6.6 PO4: 0 NO3: 0 PH: 7.99-8.05 ( have not calibrated the probe yet) ORP: 376-387 ( have not calibrated the probe yet) Salinity: 1.025 Temp: 79.8-81.5 |
Day 24: water test...
Ca: 450 Mg: 1420 Alk: 7.4 PO4: 0 NO3: 0 PH: 8.03-8.15 ( have not calibrated the probe yet) ORP: 361-385 ( have not calibrated the probe yet) Salinity: 1.025 Temp: 79.8-80.2 Looks like the water parameter are to my liking and will be doing one more test later this week for consistency on the dosing and I'll also be calibrating the ORP and PH probes. I had recently added a few sps frags into the tank. A big thanks to Brad ( Aquattro). I am going to assume that the full PE is telling me that the corals are happy. |
Looks awesome Wayne!
|
Looks really good!
Has your Regal Tang been getting a beating from the Purple? He looks a bit "rough around the tail". |
Nice. Love the anthias,
|
That's looking great Wayne. Love your Bonsai. Do you know if that's a Garf?
