Hey... that was the old me... I've been attending my AA classes and I've reformed.

Rice Reef 06-23-2013 04:15 PM

Day 8: Since my last update I have now added a mp40 to the back of the tank and running in nutrient export mode. I've also connected the PH and ORP probes and I will have to recalibrate them for accuracy. The JBJ auto top off is set and I am only experiencing 5 gallons of water evaporation over the week. the skimmer seems to be skimming well... Pulling clean foam and still using the same filter sock since day 1 ( Guess I did a pretty good job in rinsing the sand ) ... This is going to be as clean as its gonna get. I am still adding MB7 daily and if all is well... I will be adding the fish back to the 120.

Here is a iPhone pic taken yesterday...

Bblinks 06-23-2013 06:36 PM

I just offered him some last night too. Lol

Duker 06-23-2013 07:17 PM

Hey Wayne, i have a really pretty pink tabling acro for you (not sure of the species name), but she's a beauty. So when ur ready, she's all yours!

WarDog 06-23-2013 07:49 PM

LOVE your new set-up! Just wondering why did you switch over to the Tunze's?

Man, you guys are awesome! This just proves how great this reef community is in supporting each other!
My only concern is how am I gonna keep it under 25? Haha
I can sneak them into the tank... better not let others find out...

Rich could have said it any better! They're both good in their own ways but the Tunzes suits my tank better as I like to be able to enjoy my tank without listening to the "wump, wump" sound. I did not get rid of the vortech pumps entirely... I have just placed the mp40 in the back.

Yeah, why don't these mods make the "like" button available?

Then they need to make a dislike button.

Rice Reef 06-24-2013 04:50 AM

I have just completed a water test tonight and it looks like I may have miscalculated the amount of salt needed...

Ca: 360
Mg: 1090
Alk: 5.6
PO4: 0
NO3: 0
PH: 7.99-8.07 ( have not calibrated the probe yet)
ORP: 325-360 ( have not calibrated the probe yet)
Salinity: 1.021
Temp: 79.8-80.0

Good news is that nitrate an phosphate are undetectable (0).

Will add more salt tonight and then retest in couple days.

Rice Reef 06-27-2013 06:34 AM

Retested the Water tonight...

Ca: 380
Mg: 1050
Alk: 6.4
PO4: 0
NO3: 0
PH: 7.98-8.08 ( have not calibrated the probe yet)
ORP: 331-360 ( have not calibrated the probe yet)
Salinity: 1.024
Temp: 79.8-80.0

Salinity is acceptable, increase in Alk, slight increase in Ca and slight decrease in Mg. Set up the phosban reactor running biopellets and will be setting up the doser tomorrow to bring Ca, Mg and Alk up.

Aquattro 06-27-2013 11:58 AM

So come get some frags already!!

Rice Reef 07-01-2013 03:52 AM

Just a small update. I've transferred the fish over to the main tank today. Looks like the transfer went well.

In a couple weeks, corals?

I don't feel bad anymore. They have learned to swim about without corals for a while now.

Next week is no good for me, u know double shifting. Soon I hope. Maybe I should do a frag swap at my house. Still comtemplating the idea for mid to late August.

reeferfulton 07-03-2013 04:42 AM

Come on Wayne. I will go with ya! Another day trip on Saturday or Sunday ? I am not on call this weekend. This time we will skip all those in superior destinations and go right to rich's

I hear ya. Perhaps then at your frag swap or when we work on Peter's tank. Prob will need to bring my kids this time as they want to go to Playland. How about you bring your kids out too! Kids will have a blast!

Jon, wish I can but the kids have a lot of activities this weekend and they don't want to miss them.

Day 19: water test...

Ca: 360
Mg: 1215
Alk: 6.6
PO4: 0
NO3: 0
PH: 7.99-8.05 ( have not calibrated the probe yet)
ORP: 376-387 ( have not calibrated the probe yet)
Salinity: 1.025
Temp: 79.8-81.5

Rice Reef 07-09-2013 05:30 AM

Day 24: water test...

Ca: 450
Mg: 1420
Alk: 7.4
PO4: 0
NO3: 0
PH: 8.03-8.15 ( have not calibrated the probe yet)
ORP: 361-385 ( have not calibrated the probe yet)
Salinity: 1.025
Temp: 79.8-80.2

Looks like the water parameter are to my liking and will be doing one more test later this week for consistency on the dosing and I'll also be calibrating the ORP and PH probes.

I had recently added a few sps frags into the tank. A big thanks to Brad ( Aquattro). I am going to assume that the full PE is telling me that the corals are happy.

Pic Update

Just a few coral pics to share. Some of the frags are still on the frag rack while a few are now glued down on the rocks.

Looks really good!

Has your Regal Tang been getting a beating from the Purple? He looks a bit "rough around the tail".
