I would really love to see the setup, maybe have a small gathering sometime?

lastlight 10-31-2011 07:54 PM

These guys Tony:

Same as the pair you have right?

Delphinus 10-31-2011 08:32 PM

Ooh nice, I love the colouration of the females the way it transitions.

Mine are actually Bellus angels (these guys: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/p...23&pcatid=2923 )

lastlight 10-31-2011 08:55 PM

Oh yeah... I love both types actually yours are sweet. These aren't even a 'with caution' sort of addition right? Should be a safe add?

Delphinus 10-31-2011 09:09 PM

I think they're considered reef safe 100%. I've had no issues with mine (other than their own bickering amongst themselves).

lastlight 11-03-2011 10:49 PM

Well the skimmer has been breaking in for 3 days now on my curing rock. So far so good!

Only thing killing me so far is the evaporation! The drier I keep the room the more it evaporates! I plan to cover as much of the sump as possible... just not sure with what yet.

Hustler 11-06-2011 07:26 PM

I was wishing i could cover my tank and leave my sump open but the light issue killed that.... Im cutting acrylic in sections for mine and getting tank trim to put all around and silicone but the majority is all the square footage up top....It sucks...I know

globaldesigns 11-06-2011 07:44 PM

Any new pics?

lastlight 11-06-2011 07:46 PM

Wife's makin me clean the house (I'm hiding in my room for a few min) but I'll snap a few more soon but nothing exciting for anyone but me. For me... this much ro/di is like pure romance!

lastlight 11-06-2011 09:54 PM

Got my dj strips installed last night. Will toss the one from my current tank in there as well if needed. My rule of thumb is 'if you can do it with a 2x4... DO IT' LOL.

http://www.fishbrains.net/images/404/power.jpg

And the tank is about half full! The tank is currently surrounded by all the junk from the other side of the basement as I tape and mud over there.

Looks cool Spidey.

DCDN 11-06-2011 11:34 PM

So close. Looks great

mseepman 11-06-2011 11:45 PM

So looking forward to watching this one going fully.

The Grizz 11-07-2011 01:03 AM

Yes we have water in that beast finally. :twised:

lastlight 11-07-2011 01:31 AM

I was playing around with a 6105 in there you can see it at the back under the overflow box. Wow when they say good up to 19mm with the magnets they are half kidding! The grip is frighteningly loose... without the kickback from the pump I doubt it'd stay put! I'm going to anchor the cords much like the vortechs just in case I have some slippage.

Skimmer cup was emptied a day ago and it's half full again. I was excited to see it lighten actually hoping my rock was done dropping a deuce but it's darkening once again darn it.

Lance 11-08-2011 11:48 PM

Holy crap! I go away for a few weeks and miss everything. Making good process there Brett. Things are looking stellar. Won't be long now before it's full of fish and corals. Probably already asked: but are you keeping the 97g running after MR. Big is up-and-running?

lastlight 11-09-2011 12:56 AM

Thx Lance. Wife is prodding me to transfer ASAP since she wants an xmas tree where the tank is lol. Was no room last year.

I dumped two buckets of salt into the display an hour ago ;)

christyf5 11-09-2011 02:26 AM

Woohoo! We have salty water!!

 Woohoo! Saltwater and rock. Congrats on getting her going, how many buckets of salt did you use?

fishoholic 11-10-2011 01:01 PM

The rock scape seems a bit lacking..... But yay for salty water :cheer2:

lastlight 11-10-2011 03:52 PM

Lol rock scape...

I dumped all the rock in one spot because I have junk in the way everywhere else and my step-stool is too wide to unfold behind the tank :twised: I'll have to find a narrower one or build that sliding bench thing I had planned on. My bet at this point is a narrower stool I'm getting lazy!

Just wanted to lay it out and get lots of flow on it. This weekend's not looking good but I hope to do the scape the following weekend.

As for salt I think I used around 2.75 buckets. My kids were doing salt shots too I sorta lost track near the end!

I figured you'd get a laugh from that. I assumed you had just dumped the rock in.

lastlight 11-10-2011 06:40 PM

Well now I'm leaving it! See how you like them rocks

I'm wondering if most people climb into the water when scaping a filled tank of this size?

Delphinus 11-10-2011 07:09 PM

I only ever climbed in to clean mine of the all the construction dust. For aquascaping though I did don a mask and snorkel at times. I staged most of my rock on the floor first, and that had its pluses and minuses. (As you probably remember, so I guess I don't have to tell that story over again...)

Parker 11-10-2011 08:12 PM

I've never been inside mine, but mine's smaller and I'm fat.

lastlight 11-10-2011 08:19 PM

Plus you have a tendancy to break your tanks without climbing inside them

Coralgurl 11-10-2011 08:34 PM

Looking great so far!!!

Sweet man:) This things going to be wicked!
What's your plans for aquascaping?
Are you using acrylic rods? putty? glue? Or just stacking?

The Grizz 11-11-2011 02:42 AM

SWEET!!!! Full of water, salt and some rock. Not much longer and there will be fishes and coral, nice job bud. Can't wait to see what you do for rock work, make sure you ask the misses to take some pic from the front as you do it, I want to see you with a snorkel & mask on. :twised:

I've got my super long black zip-ties ready to go and I'm sure I'll use some epoxy here and there too. Nothing fancy I'm keeping it simple piles I think. Sloping piles rather than towers so the corals mounted lower down are not shaded when the top ones grow (as badly)!

Nobody wants or gets to see that lol. I think I'm going to lay a sheet of plywood across the tank to scape my piles on. I'll stand in there and work at my temporary bench.

Things like that add character to a build =) I dropped a sump on myself...sorta the same lol.

Parker 11-11-2011 03:39 PM

I was waiting for you to bring up the fact I sliced my hand open with an exacto knife ( cut me deep ) after I broke my tank.
