So the red bugs that were only on the one frag and not proliferating... yeah they were on some expensive new frags and were starting to gain ground. I decided to go ahead with treatment.

Managed to catch one of my new porcelain crabs and the only 2 little hermits I have and put them into my high-end qt system which is elevated out of cat territory:

http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/qt.jpg

The other porcelain and my cleaner shrimp evaded all my traps and baits so best of luck to them I guess. It's about 10 hours later and I can't find any bugs and both remaining critters seem to be eating and frolicking about like before so my fingers are crossed.

I swear my PE on the more heavily affected piece is already much better!

fishytime 05-08-2011 01:59 AM

Eeeeeek.....the mere mention of those little bastards makes me cringe.......great video BTW:biggrin:

lorenz0 05-08-2011 02:17 AM

Zoaelite 05-08-2011 03:14 AM

Probably that Kein guy everyone keeps talking about .

Looking good Brett!

I've had them for ages and no I don't know where they came from. Treating for them sure is easy though.

Thanks guys!

PoonTang 05-08-2011 03:43 AM

Yes thankfully they are one of the easiest pests to deal with.

The Grizz 05-08-2011 05:17 AM

Sweet vid bud, very nice indeed :thumb:

Delphinus 05-08-2011 05:26 AM

Great vid! Tank looks great.

Parker 05-25-2011 01:37 AM

It's been while since I've cruised through tank threads, I've missed a lot.. Your tank is looking great@!

lastlight 05-25-2011 01:42 AM

Thanks bro =)

Few new corals and a new fish:

Two awesome pieces from Brad (Abcha0s). Thanks man!

http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/anthias1.jpg

http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/anthias4.jpg

3 of the 4 pieces of Red Planet Wayne (Wayner) hooked me up with. Thanks man! The fourth is higher up to experiment a little. These should have more green base...

http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/anthias2.jpg

Just anothr shot of my Plana. Easily my favorite coral in the tank. Fast grower and the contrast between the rich purple and pearly base makes me weak in the knees.

http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/anthias3.jpg

And this manly hulk is named Frank.

My Red planet that's higher up definately has a greenish pearly pink & white all mixed into 1 coloration. It's pretty cool lookin. Those are sweet fish too.

Zoaelite 06-04-2011 02:54 AM

I named my Squareback Albert Hofmann, Frank has a nice ring to it though .

Those photos are real purdy buddy! How long did it take to snag that bottom action shot?

lastlight 06-04-2011 03:32 AM

I took about 100 shots in 5 min. Got lucky I guess ;)

fishytime 06-04-2011 03:44 AM

Nothing like trying to fit this many frags (which I like to mount on rubble to boot) onto a frag rack that is on the side of the tank the kids are ALWAYS gawking into and touching with fingers! I have tape placed over the magnets and have threatened the kids so we'll see how it goes! There is no room left in the tank and even the back wall is full. I'm going to rescue all the other frags from the sandbed to a similar rack on the other side of the tank as some of them have been looking a bit faded especially as the corals up top keeping growing and generating more shade...

Look great bud!

muck 09-30-2011 09:40 PM

Great selection Brett.
Did ya leave some for the rest of the SPS nuts though?

Snappy 09-30-2011 09:57 PM

Since you are using the rack without the frag plug posts to secure into the holes you may want to keep an eye on them as the snails and such will knock them off the rack & into the sand.

lastlight 09-30-2011 10:22 PM

Oh I know I was worried about that and I only have one snail. And you can guess where he has been hanging out! The rack is touching the front pane and angled towards it a bit. I picked the safest spot for frags to fall lol. Nothing but some zoas below.

Boomboy 10-01-2011 04:24 AM

man thats make me jealous. those are nice looking frags. you always get the good stuff.

lastlight 10-01-2011 04:32 AM

It's nice living 60 seconds from the nicest frags ;)

Really nice!

Hope to have my order in by this weekend!

lastlight 10-20-2011 10:09 PM

I realized today the tank's a little over a year old. It's funny my wife decorated with the same caution tape for halloween this year: it's in the before and afters lol. I also tried out my top down box... I'm not too great with it but I did a dump of the ones I took anyways.

One thing I've come to terms with (maybe it's just an issue with my tank) is that all the corals can't look their best at the same time. Some look better now than they ever have and some have dulled or faded.

Before and afters:

Looks amazing Brett! Would you hurry up & rip it down already? There's a massive tank in your basement that needs filling!!!

lastlight 10-20-2011 10:22 PM

Thanks!

Was told today the skimmer's gonna arrive in 3 days! Plumbing will hopefully not be much longer either and then it's FILL time :twised:

bvlester 10-20-2011 10:23 PM

Gee that cromi grew up and changed color. Didn't know they got so big and changed color......LOL

christyf5 10-21-2011 01:29 AM

Looks great Brett, its filling in nicely and just in time for the big move  I agree, it would be nice if all the corals looked good at one time (talking about my tank) it seems I finally get the pink poci from brownish to pink and the yellow acros have all gone greenish brown
