Sailfin tang, a rescue from another tank with Tai's help. I hope with proper care and feeding that his top fin will recover. His is very healthy other wise:

The Grizz 06-23-2010 04:02 AM

So now the plan is if the birds nest goes well the wife want's me to try the SPS again. First plan of attack is going to do some more fancy aqua scape, get the corals and 6 clams set up and happy, then find some nice relatively cheap SPS to try. So if anyone would like to donate some nice size piece's of SPS to the cause for a small price........... call me.

4lti7ude 06-23-2010 04:11 AM

oO nice Nudies
Do those ones eat algea? I remember reading a past thread a few days ago about someone else who bought one of those... a Purple Nudibranch? and they said it only eats certain sponges....

They sure do eat algea. The pink one has been racing around that tank since Saturday but the purple one is standing guard around what I think are eggs. So I might have a bunch of these to sell soon,. They do eat curtain type's of sponge but so far I have not seen them near my orange tree sponge.

Seafan 06-23-2010 05:02 AM

Wow, tank and new inhabitants really are looking good! Really hope the sailfin recovers for ya, they are such a beautiful fish. Great shot you got of your lawnmower.
lol, got the same purple with peach center zoa's as you did, was in Red Coral on Saturday, the hubby took me out fish shopping for father's day (backward's I know, but I ain't complaining ).

The Grizz 06-23-2010 05:17 AM

We were there on Saturday as well around 3:30 ish, that's when I got them as well, as well as another clam (admitted clam and zoaholic ).

The Grizz 08-11-2010 01:09 AM

Just thought I would let everyone know that I am still alive and kicking. The 8'er is doing OK not much has changed YET. When I can get to it I want to re-do my aquascaping.

andestang 08-11-2010 04:31 AM

One of my son's decided to do some rescaping for me back in May, started but still sitting unfinished and now he's gone :mmph: How are the nudi's and sailfin doing ?

The Grizz 08-11-2010 04:46 AM

Unfortunately the nudies did not make it long because of the closed loop flow and got stuck on the intake's about 2 weeks ago but the Sailfin seems to be doing well and might even be growing it's fin back.

Greenmaster 08-12-2010 04:07 AM

Nice tank, I wish I could have gone 8' but space limitations left me at 6'.
Nudies often are very diet specific and will often die of starvation after not long in a tank... if they survive the intakes/powerheads. There is one kind of Nudie that eats aptaisia and nothing else... so you have an aptaisia problem you get one then it munches them all... no food left so it dies... I have heard of someone growing aptaisia in their refuge and moving a rock up to the DT every week or so... just to keep their nudie alive and keeping the DT clear.
Make sure that when you rescape you take some before and after pics :D
What other fish you plan on getting? Or do you plan on just... not planning  and getting fish when you see one that "fits".

The Grizz 08-13-2010 01:07 AM

The Nudies that we picked up at Ocean City algea eaters and where doing a great job until they ventured off the glass and onto the sand/rock where the closed loop flow sent them off into the intakes.

For fish I would like to add about 5 more blue green chromis, a powder blue tang, a koran angle and a blonde naso tang if I can find some really small one's

And I have to finish my 67 gal pred tank so I can move my maroon clown, fox face, scribbled rabbit, yellow damsel, blue fin damsel and chocolate chip star fish from there current 30 gal home.

The Grizz 08-24-2010 02:52 AM

The latest addition, thank's Wingin it & anaitari as well as othicx for pick-up & delivery:

Wingin It 08-24-2010 05:02 AM

haha...he's like a dog...so cute!

The Grizz 08-24-2010 05:17 AM

I think he needs a friend though kind of sticks to the corner's but so cute

Nebthet 08-24-2010 06:12 AM

Actually your cardinal is a female.. it would be interesting to get a mate for her.

Wingin It 08-24-2010 03:23 PM

SHE really likes her flake food! LOL

Seafan 08-24-2010 04:03 PM

Pretty Cardinal, If you are thinking about picking up another one why don't you wait a bit. My pair had babies, one survived, rest were supper for the tank. The one I have left is a little more than 1/4 inch long and about 3months old now and doing great. I think mine is a male but a bit early to tell yet, and they are hard to tell apart even by experts. I looked at the picture of yours and it looks just like my male. Well congrats on the new addition.

Nebthet 08-24-2010 07:23 PM

If you want to tell the difference between a male and female bengaii, look at the stomach behind the fins. The female has one thorn, while the male has two.

Also, it is great to hear that yours is eating flake food. Mine won't touch it, unless it is cyclopeeze flake, so I also feed my tank Mysis shrimp, blood worms, and squid.

Dang you and your nice tank lol. I really can't wait to get mine up and going, and with all luck it might look as good as yours

The Grizz 08-25-2010 01:20 AM

Thanks othicx  but it still needs some work to make it a little better and then there is the fact that I really need new bulbs.

Seafan 08-25-2010 01:36 AM

Love the full tank shots , tank seems to be filling in really nicely.

Thanks Karen  I have to get my butt in gear some day and re-aquascape to make it that much better.

othicx 08-25-2010 01:51 AM

can i help?

Seafan 08-25-2010 01:56 AM

I really like the way you have it aquascaped. It's really pretty, nicely open for your fish and very natural looking.

When the wife and I were visiting some other reefer's in Cowtown she seen how they had the rock layered jetting out for here and there and now she want me to try to hide the closed loop intake. And I think I need to make more cave's and shelf's for the coral and some fish.

doobiej 08-25-2010 03:28 AM

tank looks great. how do you like the 8 footer?

I really like the 8' and the fact that I can reach the bottom of the back side is definitely a plus for a vertically challenged individual like myself.

No just the one..I have a mated pair so don't really want to part with them.

The Grizz 08-25-2010 05:27 PM

Do you know if it a male or female, I have been told mine is a female.

Mrfish55 08-25-2010 07:43 PM

Great job, looks good. The shallow depth meakes the tank look even longer, not to mention it has to be easier to work on, I need snorkel gear to do any landscaping in my tank.
