Wow your pipe seems to like staying upright. Mine never does that. It's always horizontal.

daplatapus 03-26-2014 01:46 PM

Lol, love the cat looking in the tank in the foreground at 00:33

That's a gorg of some sort.

Petey the Pipefish

Yeah that Petey's a real swimmer.
Mine swim on occasion but I think there is too much flow for them so they tend to mostly 'snake' around. They mostly swim when going to a different teir of the reef.

lastlight 03-26-2014 06:53 PM

Day two I saw a lot less of that swimming. Still haven't seen him up on my tower only down low. My tank is totally swarming with bugs so I hope my choice to add him proves to be a wise one.

Marcel Legros 03-27-2014 03:09 AM

Awesome thread. Subscribed... :)

lastlight 03-29-2014 04:25 AM

well the tank is just past the one year marker so i thought i'd post a few new ones. the goal this year is to hopefully grow some darn sps. pics of that if it happens lol.

Wow. Great theatrical representation of your tank!

michika 04-06-2014 08:27 PM

I agree with kien, your tank is sexy.

Rice Reef 04-07-2014 04:06 AM

Soooo purdy! I wish I could put a non photo gorg in my tank. How and how often do you feed your gorg?

lastlight 04-07-2014 05:28 AM

thanks!

Denny suggested placing it in the general area you feed in. I feed pellets in that spot as well as feed all the acans a couple times a week. So far it seems really happy. I've been told it's a slow grower but it has its polyps out almost all the time to some degree or another and has not receded at all.

Parker 04-09-2014 09:16 PM

Pics like that make me miss my tank.

Nice work

Marcel Legros 04-12-2014 01:15 AM

Great pics. Love the non-photosynthetic gorgonian!

lastlight 12-30-2014 05:06 AM

better sneak an update in before year's end! after letting the tank do its thing for a long time i've been doing regular water changes for the last couple months and changing my media again. things have been colouring back up and it's been really nice to see things turn around and start growing again. i've been battling zoanthid eating nudis and manually suck them off my colonies as best i can and have a melanurus now which seems to also be helping. my sps troubles seem to be turning around as well. one day i hope to have a RED red planet!

couple fts i'm not overly thrilled with to start with. i can't get back far enough to use the macro for fts which i love the look of. my cheap kit 18-70mm is the only one that can fit it all in.

Snappy 12-30-2014 06:05 AM

Sweet camera work Brett!

duncangweller 12-30-2014 06:41 AM

Great pictures

Slyguy00 12-30-2014 07:54 AM

Wow those are incredible pics. I'm sure it's been mentioned before but what camera do you use to take those. Probably the best coral pics IV seen

Reef Pilot 12-30-2014 02:07 PM

Wow, some pretty nice stuff in there. And yeah, you sure are good with that camera.

lastlight 12-30-2014 06:32 PM

Thanks guys.

The camera is a Nikon D80. I borrow a 105mm macro lens for the coral shots.

Doug 12-30-2014 08:26 PM

Wish I could take pics like that. Just stunning.

kien 12-30-2014 08:38 PM

Looking good Big B! Those pics are stunning. And that sand, wow! It's pristine! How do you keep it so clean ?!?!

Ginu 12-30-2014 09:54 PM

Pics are ugh, stunning.

hillegom 12-30-2014 11:36 PM

Ahh, I will agree, stunning

lastlight 12-31-2014 04:55 PM

Thx again guys.

So here was the last basement pic I posted:

http://www.fishbrains.net/images/93/fragtank3.jpg

I'm done the basement now and since it's certainly still fish related thought I'd update here. I still have a few things to do like install a kitchen cabinet above my laundry tub to hold my small supplies as well as the ro/di to clean the look up a bit.

This side of the basement (other is my office) is basically a fish/lego split lol. Kids are down here all the time now loving it so it was a rewarding project to wrap up.

Very nice.

Reef Pilot 12-31-2014 05:31 PM

Geez, you're so neat and organized... If my wife saw these pics, I would be in (more) trouble...

lastlight 12-31-2014 05:42 PM

LOL I'm probably only this neat because of my wife!

I should prob show what's in the other tank down there. She loves running around in my office. It's a safe room away from the cats.

WarDog 12-31-2014 05:43 PM

That is amazing... and the Lego!?! AWESOME SAUCE!

steve fedyk 12-31-2014 06:37 PM

nice work on the basement, sump closet and lego.

lastlight 01-06-2015 06:14 AM

Picked up a few new pieces from mhasan. Poor things are leaving the zeovit estates and moving into the ghetto! a few pics while they're coloured up lol. it's getting super tough to find spots for more sps. i'm sure i'll buy more but i had to relocate a few things this time. the next time i have no idea how i'll make it work. my scape only has so many spots where enough light hits.

blue tort. all i've ever wanted was a really blue or really purple SPS. Only ever managed that with a long lost hoeksemai. fingers crossed I can keep it looking like this as it's even MORE BLUE.

http://fishbrains.net/images/93/mhasan1.jpg

nice stag...

http://fishbrains.net/images/93/mhasan2.jpg

nice to have a piece of german blue digi again. my last one became enormous.

http://fishbrains.net/images/93/mhasan3.jpg

This acan was getting picked on by his fish. it's going to get the royal treatment and plump up in no time.

GoFish 01-06-2015 06:36 AM

That basement transformation is awesome, nicely done!

Myka 01-06-2015 02:25 PM

Looks great! Nice new sticks too! :) Did you get that DJ Power Bar recently? If so, where did you get it? Those things are getting hard to find!

lastlight 01-06-2015 03:26 PM

thx guys.

no i stole back one of the 4 or 5 i sold off with my 400. both my friend and i have had the american dj strips short out and have certain switches and sockets literally burn up. one of my switch covers literally blew off the unit and i found it across the room. all the cheaper chauvet brand ones he still has are operating perfectly. i shouldn't really be using the thing anymore but so far i haven't found anything to replace it and the working sockets that remain are so dang handy.
