Parker 02-04-2013 01:59 AM

The Codfather 02-05-2013 02:35 AM

I know, I know.....

Well, I just spent the last hour looking for the memory card for my camera. My daughter pinched it so she could take some pictures of girly things. At any rate, Ill try to get a few more pics up in the next little bit. But here are the newest additions..
These two chum out together, one is always at the tail of the other, not chasing, just following. I ordered these in through Neal, they are in great shape, fat and sassy, just the way I like them.
Pictures don't do them justice, their colour is a lot nicer.

DC pumps

Now I have however solved the problems with my pumps. I have them hooked up through my profilux now and have a pretty good wave going in the tank. I think the program can be tweaked a bit but it seems to be doing fine, nice part was I had a wave within about 5 seconds of a set point. Didnt have to muck around that much. I think Im averaging about 95-100watts between the two pumps. I wish I would have boughten the larger pumps, but these seem to do the trick.

Ya, Im still trying to get the profilux to its full extent. I can wire in my pumps, hook everything to a remote terminal, but im not smart enough to figure out the dam power bars..... Im an idiot when it comes to some things.
Ya, the pumps are pretty sweet, like I said I should have gotten the larger ones, but I think by the time I need new ones, the waveline or the vertex will come out with something. I do however have a line on something else........ it will make you jealous for sure, just waiting on a bit of info.........

Thanks for the offer Bob, I have to take you up on one, one of these days, you've been generous enough to offer help so many times.

What pumps are you running, I've never seen anything like that?

Parker 02-05-2013 03:44 AM

Found your thread on the pumps.. Some interesting reading.

Skimmerking 02-05-2013 03:52 AM

The pumps are 220v Mike, so if your still interested lmk, as I would like to get the larger size. These will push about 4600gph, and through the control box easy to set up. I have them through the 1-10v port on the profilux, so I can do pretty much anything I want with them.
And no, not another skimmer, how can you beat a SM 300???? This thing kicks the hell out of anything out there......

Im surprised I didn't get more response on that group buy, I got these at an awesome price and they seriously kick ass. Now I don't know about other controllers, but the profilux was actually easy to set up(With a little help of course from a few people). Not only is it low wattage, but fully controllable, I don't think there is anything out there right now that can touch it. Although the new vertex stratus looks strikingly similar.......

http://reefbuilders.com/2010/06/03/s...ss-dc-machine/

Its actually quite funny as even the literature looks to be the same.

The Grizz 02-05-2013 04:12 AM

New additions look sweet Bob, I seen them the day they came in.

Btw, to hook up the iPad to the P3 it has to has a WLAN card in it, correct?

Greg,
I run parallels 8 and windows 8 on my mac.
I just have the parallels mobile app. on my iPad and log in through there, works actually quite well, Ive changed settings from work.
Just so you know they did release the android app for profilux today. Don't know if that helps you or not, but if you have an android based phone, it looks good.

The Grizz 02-05-2013 04:28 AM

Nope doesn't help,. I don't own a Mac & I have an iPhone.

Same here. You bought that P3 eh? How the hell do you set up the dam power bars!! I had the link on profilux forum, but when the switch to the european site went through I cant find it. Ideas?? I suppose I could just read the dam instructions......
If not no worries, Ill invite Jason over to do it for me....I mean help me.

I have no idea yet myself, just got it tonight & have to order a PAB cable to hook it up. I glad they changed to the PAB vursus the L ports, frees them up for other things.

Ya, considering their size now,and what they'll end up, they have to be the most timid tangs Ive seen. This may be a good thing as Id hate to have them fighting already.

Good to know about the app, I didn't realize one existed.

Beautiful tangs, they make a lovely addition

They look to be very nice pumps but I think the price point is maybe a tad high for the average hobbyist. With Vertex jumping into the fray with more vendors to follow I'm sure the pricing will improve with time.

Im sure the vertex will be top notch, most of there product is. The problem is, I was waiting for the cerebra to come out before I bought a controller. After a year of nothing, I got myself a profilux because I was tired of waiting. Heres hoping that this isnt the same type of problem.
I think we can see the benefit of a DC line of pumps, waveline has taken off, the benefit of these pumps are they are quite small, a lot of people do not have a larger tank so these are a good fit.
The benefit that I wanted was no powerheads in the tank with a wave motion. I needed a fully controllable pump to achieve this, yes there were problems at first, but I think I have it all ironed out now.

That would be a nice option, I love the action of my wave box but hate the noise of it. I can hear the damn thing upstairs.

An insulated canopy on your tank should help. I briefly had 2 boxes running on my 400 and could barely hear them standing in front of the tank.

I'm not sure running a insulated canopy with 3ea 400w HQI's in it would be a great idea.

i don't want to further threadjack but i will say a canopy at all will help... doesn't have to be insulated. plus you're going to face higher temps just by having the canopy.

Nice looking tangs Bob, how big is the sohal ? looks like a beauty. What kind is the other tang besides the purple ?

subman 04-23-2013 05:03 AM

The pics are good but this is one of my all time favorite tanks in person.

The Codfather 04-23-2013 05:06 AM

Hey Terry, hows it going?
The sohal is actually the smallest tang in the tank, maybe 6", but thats six inches of pure evil. I actually had to sell my powder blue, as the sohal wouldn't let him eat.
The other two are a horseshoe and a black spot tang.
Just the four, was going to try one or two more, but I don't think thats a good idea anymore. Other than that just a black leopard wrasse and a couple of mystery wrasses. more than enough for now, summer is coming and I dont want to get too much going as the girls and I have a lot of camping planned.
Not tank related but here was my evening, the girls thought it would be cool to eat supper in the trailer....Im such a good cook....
