Stand is looking good.
Is the section on the left going to be a storage cabinet?

The left side will house my ATO and 12 gallon reservoir. The right will hold my auto doser and chems on the bottom and the top I may try incorporate a space for electricals. This is undecided.

The electrical depends on space and safety.

Both undetermined. But the left is solid.

A picture is worth a thousand words...

I'm happy to say I measured well. It's perfect clearance and fit for my ATO.

paddyob 02-09-2013 04:57 AM

The frame is complete. Not counting a little buffing and paint.

This is where the electrical panel will be attached...

My clowns.... SA Vivid Fancy OCs. One of them anyhow. Just got the pair a couple days ago from BW. Beautiful little clowns. Not in the RBTA yet but they go close. currently residing in my holding tank until the 70 is rebuilt.

paddyob 02-10-2013 05:20 PM

Frame 100% done and now for paint. Primer is done.

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...D8524F68F5.jpg

Here is how I plan to attach panels. I drilled holes on the top frame and will use a peg/magnet system.

The top of the removable panel will have pegs to drop into the holes... The bottom will have "Rare Earth" magnets to hold it closed.

Can anyone help me out with some thoughts or opinions?

Progress

Ok after many delays this is where tonight ended.

Final "tear down"

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...0759D04473.jpg

Enter the new stand.

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...07620FE550.jpg

Guess what. I passes rock bottom. The rebuild is officially in the upward direction.

Now I'm excited.

paddyob 03-12-2013 03:45 AM

I still never got this is in. But this photo shows you the overflow upgrade.

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...09E438EF3A.jpg

As you can see, the old box is almost impossible to access with the cross brace. The bigger box will allow access to remove algae or a fish if one gets in.

Thanks to Codfather of course! He made the first one and my upgraded one! The new one will be much nicer for maintenance. A little more skimming too.

paddyob 04-02-2013 02:50 PM

Shims cut. Will level the stand and reattach plumbing hopefully tonight.

paddyob 04-04-2013 05:37 PM

With new lights, comes the need for a rack. I took a few suggestions, made minor changes and I will "retrofit" my Teklight Stand.

Stay tuned.

Hopefully this crap disappears.

Progress. Two panels built. All oak. You will see the dowel system I developed for my panels. They pop into holes on the metal tube frame. Very quick to take them off.

I need the trim for them yet. I'll build all the panels first then trim them out, decoratively and to tie the panels together.

The holes for the pegs...

The pegs...

I like what you did with the peg design for the stand panels. I've been trying to figure out a good way to cover my sump area. Might have to do something along those lines.

How's the Dinos doing?

Thanks. Took some time to figure out how to make the panels. But they are fantastic.

The dinos... Just started attack two. With a higher dosage. From 17/ml every two days to 20ml.

The dinos are turning color to a brighter green. I hope this is a good sign.

paddyob 09-18-2013 11:17 AM

Stand progress...

paddyob 10-06-2013 01:49 AM

The last panel is built. Decorative trim is next.

Well happy to say, after a long year, the Dino's are almost beaten.
