As far as the closed loop I really like it so far. Nice even flow through out the tank. Also noticed that there is less debris on the sand and rock, when I feed the fish what ever food it is time for it does not hit the sand. And there is power head sticking out like a soar thumb.

Aren't chromis and damsels somewhat the same? All I can say is that I have some chromis, AND I HATE THEM!!!

I hope to come over one day to see the setup, withing camping starting this weekend in Triple Diamond, we can get together one day to ride and look at the new setup.

The Grizz 04-27-2010 05:17 AM

I am not sure about that but I really like mine they are very friendly and get along with every thing.

Sound's good just give me a shout, need to get out and release some frustration on two wheels.

with an eight footer you will end up standing outside to get a FTS:razz:

so you managed to find a zoa that you liked:question::lol:

I would be standing in my pool room trying to take a pic though a window that is for sure.

And yes I did find some zoa I liked, Kevin told me that you took the nicest of the bunch

Agreed!

Greg your hard work and patience has defiantly paid off

kien 04-28-2010 02:20 AM

yup, 8 footer for the win! Love that length. The only thing that would have made this build better are sharks with fricken lasers on their heads.

Thanks guy's, appreciate the compliment's.

Sharks with laser's that would have been sweet!!

Looks like my little birds nest frag is loving it to, so I guess I will have to find a nice colony for a good price and see how it goes.

globaldesigns 04-28-2010 03:08 AM

Great Pic!!! Wonderful woodwork!!!

Not bad for a welder, I think you found your second career choice

The Grizz 04-28-2010 03:23 AM

Thanks Rick, I guess playing with a hammer and nails as a kid has paid off.

Delphinus 04-28-2010 03:38 AM

How do you know he didn't weld the metal into looking like wood??

Tank looks great.. Very nice. How many bags of sand did you use BTW?

It was about 4 bag's including what is in the refugium

bauder1986 04-28-2010 03:56 AM

haha i can picture you standing on a step ladder along the far wall in the pool room trying to get that pic greg hahaha

The Grizz 05-03-2010 03:10 AM

Well not much new ATM but I think I have to get or build a chiller. I have not ran a heater in this tank AT ALL. The tank temp is a little higher then I would like it but nothing has seemed to mind it to much.

The Grizz 05-10-2010 04:21 AM

Well 3 weeks now with the NP pellet's in and all indications are good, 0 phos, 0 nitrates / nitrites, 0 ammonia.

The Grizz 05-12-2010 02:17 AM

Well I am so ****ed!!!! My beautiful Copper Ban is GONE!!! He was eating mysis like a pig and very active since the day I got him. I noticed he was acting funny on Sunday not swimming around as much but still eating.

WHOW double post's

Delphinus 05-12-2010 03:28 AM

Sorry to hear that Greg. They are such awesome little fish, it really stings when they go. :( As a group they just don't seem to do well long term in captivity.

The Grizz 05-12-2010 04:23 AM

Thanks Tony, I was hoping that it would be good for at least a year, live and learn. Time to find another fish that I really really want.

globaldesigns 05-12-2010 05:11 AM

I tried 2 copperbands, and both didn't make it. I wouldn't recommend them.

So what is your next fishy?

I would like a Blond Naso Tang or a Powder Blue as well as a Koran Angel, have not figured it out yet. It will depend on what I see first and the FS at a good price next time I am in the city's.

I have a blonde Naso, very beautiful fish, probably a little easier to keep than a Powder Blue.

Skimmerking 05-12-2010 08:19 PM

what about a powder blue , brown, achillies that would be sweet.

+1, Achilles tang would be amazing if you can find a healthy one that stays alive in your tank. Sorry to hear about the Copperband Greg, I ended up taking mine back to the LFS as he was munching on my LPS. Such a shame there such nice fish with great personalities.

fishoholic 05-12-2010 09:24 PM

Tank looks great, sorry to hear about your CBB. I got really lucky with the first one I ever got 3 and a half years ago, ate mysis right from the start and still does. Also ironically one of the only fish I have that not only survived marine velvet, never even seemed to be phased by it or the copper treatment. However the 2nd CBB I tried died 2 weeks after I got it.

My CBB was a pig when it came to mysis so I have no idea what happened.

I have to look up Achilles Tang to see what it is but it sounds like it is a sweet fish.:idea:

fishytime 05-13-2010 12:11 AM

The Grizz 05-13-2010 02:03 AM

Just show her the price tag on a black tang, or jewel tang :)

Or show her pictures of the Achilles :) They are a nice fish, but ich prone, and they want (and will) rule the tank.

The Grizz 05-13-2010 03:27 AM

A Blonde Naso is first on the list, then a Powder Blue Tang after that who knows.

The Grizz 05-30-2010 12:53 AM

Not much new but I thought I would update my thread with what has been going down.

Decided to re-do my LR and while I was in there I put some small sprayer bars for the returns of my closed loop to help disperse the water flow a little better. And this is what I came up with for the aqua scape.
