Colin they look really nice corals but maybe you can try using less saturation and/or a higher light exposure. It's hard to tell what they really look like, almost like they are painted. Or is that you wrapped them in velvet? Anyway you have some awesome stuff and these look to be no exception.

aussiefishy 08-31-2007 05:38 AM

one of my favorites.

niloc16 08-31-2007 06:38 AM

thanks greg but my camera has extremely limited options. i can adjust exposure but i have been lowering the exposure, maybe i should try and increase. the camera nevers seems to catch blues or purples. sorry they look like that

Snappy 08-31-2007 02:11 PM

Colin you have nothing to apologize for. They are obviously beautiful corals. Trust me I know how hard it is to get the true colours to come out in a photograph. I definately have limited ability and camera options. But I'll give it a try.
How about this? I photo-shopped a lot of the saturation out. Not as bright but shows a little more detail and to me looks more realistic. I am sure the coral is actually brighter than this in person.

aussiefishy,

That is very nice. Is it all purple?

Snappy 09-05-2007 04:25 AM

Here's a bird's eye view of this good old birdsnest. It had browned out completely but is bouncing back, soon it will show hues of pink again. But in the meantime there's just something about the contrast with those polyps that I like.

Jason McK 09-20-2007 06:14 AM

It's hard to complain about better corals going to bigger markets after looking through this thread. WOW everyone. Simply amazing. You should all be very proud of your incredible talents in both Photography and coral care.

niloc16 09-20-2007 06:29 AM

jason i couldnt have said it better, i just glanced thru the whole threead again just at pics and i dont think people in canada should complain about quality and color that is available to us. there is tons of jaw dropping pieces that you guys have. i second jason saying awesome job guys. hands down this thread is my all time fav

Chowder 09-29-2007 04:15 AM

Not sure if the pic is great but one of my favorite corals that I own. It's purple with bright green polyps.

Colin, your tank is definitely one I'll have to visit with my coral snippers when I'm down in the lower mainland...

So when are you planning on going away on vacation?

michika 10-02-2007 04:52 AM

Thats a perfect idea Marie. You can grow them, the redistribute out frags to everyone! :D

I think you should start with Colin's tank, then move on through the rest of the thread's contributors...

sarmentosa First pic ive ever posted thought Id try it here

michika 10-02-2007 05:17 AM

Looking very nice Honkey Sauce!

How do you ID your corals?

niloc16 10-02-2007 05:25 AM

niice piece honkey sauce. i was just telling superfudge today that we should have a good fashion 'snipping' party. that would be the most fun frag swap. instead of people prepping frags just go to everyones house with your snips and bag your own.

honkey sauce 10-02-2007 05:31 AM

this one I saw on RC then double checked onhttp://www2.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/coralsearch.php

http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t...IMG_1307-1.jpg
Not the best shot but I'll try to get a top down so the pink is more noticable.

niloc16 10-05-2007 12:48 AM

this is lighter blue in real life. so it is not exact but it still looks cool

A hard one to picture, it's right at the surfice .

Snappy 10-08-2007 02:45 PM

In the first picture those frags look like they are mounted on your mag-float.

Chowder 10-08-2007 04:54 PM

You are correct. The cap has since started to attach to the glass.
