There is nothing to be sorry about. I put "no problem" in bold letters but I wasn't yelling.:smile: I just meant no problem.

Everything you ever wanted to know but were afraid to ask about my little reef is right here.

( I don't think most people look at the FTOTM page anymore)

That would be sad, considering all the work that went into it. Esp. considering its one of the best write ups on a featured tank I have seen.

:mrgreen: Great monti pics guys. Wholley mackeral those are nice. :smile: And some of the photo work on this thread is outstanding.

This is from shortly after I got it when it had 6 heads, it's now up to about 15.

Favorite today :)

I am lost as to what this coral is, is not acropora.

It will not cluster, branch or table.....it just forms mounds.
Definatly a unusual piece, possibly Isopora ?

Marc,
what's it smell like out of the water?

SuperFudge 05-30-2007 02:51 PM

a$$ :P

J/K, this one has grown onto my rock and i havent pulled it out to smell latley....

It looks as if Isopora is a subgenus in the acropora family....so i guess still an acropora, just a weird one..lol.

Isopora have a distinct odour ?

Der_Iron_Chef 05-30-2007 03:42 PM

SPS is certainly not my strong point, but it looks like it could be some sort of encrusting montipora. Or maybe I'm just on crack :)

Delphinus 05-30-2007 03:47 PM

Montiporas tend to have an amusing if slightly precocious bouquet. An Isopora of decent vintage tends to have evokations of blackberry and apples.

Der_Iron_Chef 05-30-2007 03:54 PM

lol! Oh wait, I get it:

Montipora = Cabarnet Sauvignon
Isopora = Valpolicella
