so last week i juggled the idea of a copperband butterfly vs the things i couldnt house anymore if i had one like clams for instance :(


i ended up going with the butterfly , so far hes doing great and is eating both mysis and ocean fresh, but rathers the mysis.


so far with all the goodies he could be eating in the tank hes touched nothing but pre pared foods, which kinda sucks as i was hoping he would go for the anemones.


he has great color and lots of life to him, but im thinking he may be nipping my yellow suncoral , the suncoral is still out all day and i havent witnessed it but something seems " off " with it ......i already know the answer lol :P


ill get a pic of the little fella later as i wanted him to adjust to the tank without being bothered for the first week:)

Personally. Clams are my Fav. But the Cbb has its benifits. And in reality Denny. I kept a Cbb with 8 clams. As long as I fed mussels it left clams alone

we will see how it goes i dont know if ill have the courage to put a nice clam in with him, i think im happy not having clams but after keeping him for a while ill know a bit more about his attitude:)


i gotta say though for the first week he seen me as a threat and hid when i was in sight, i could hide in the kitchen spying on the tank and hes swimming around , as soon as i go near it he hides away.


now hes use to me and lets me feed him with the turkey baster and he eats right out of it, but as soon as the dog or any other person hits the room hes vanished out of thin air lol

decided last night that once the bonsai goes into the new tank, i have a whole half tree to fill with corals , and then it hit me .... one side zoa/lps dominant and the other side sps dominant hehehe


so thats the plan stan!!

cutting back on food isnt really an option so im going to give these guys a try , apparently on reefcentral people have success with peps and the tiny wite hydroids.

if this doesnt work its maually pulling each one out 1 by 1....tedious!!!

once the new tank is set up ill start really getting some sps, its just i dont have the realestate right now untill i get a light , so if i see a must have ill take it but everything else im trying to put on hold untill the tank is moved:)

added tonight an army of peps and i removed the corris wrasse.....he wasnt pleased lol

he gets along with the other wrasses just fine so all good:)

Damn. My red planet was doin so good. Great colors. Then I added a clump of cheato. I can't grow cheato. It started to dissolve and bam apocalypse now. Pulled the cheato. Water change 2x and all was good. Never loose the cheap stuff. Eh

that sucks dude i hope mine does well:P


noticed tonight some bleaching on my dragon soul favia , its always something lol gonna have to relocate it to a shadier spot....as if thats possible lol

the bonsai is getting growth as well as color some branchs in the back starting and one to the front side .

right on so my copperband suddenly owns the tank, watched him last night devour any and all aiptasia around the tree....he left maybe 2-3 all in a matter of 20mins lol i was sitting watching him as im trying to spend time with him/her so hes not shy and just like that i watched him suck in a good sized aiptasia and like a bell went off in his head he started mowing them down like candy lol


also today i got him to take food right from the turkey baster and he hides very little now that hes the only fish in there.

no im going to seperate it the feedings are getting to be too much for the fragtanks, ill have both fragtanks on their own system and my cube on its own system now too.

im thinking i may give bio pellets a try for my new cube still undecided lol:P

me and the girlfriend are finally ready to move out of the ghetto , we got the money we need saved up and are looking for a nice house somewhere for the 1rst or dec 1rst, ill wait untill we move before i set up the cube but thats another reason im seperating it from my main system, so we can put it somewhere nice and actually put some money into how the tank surroundings look:)

Please don't, I require many a frag from your tank before you crash it :razz:. Seriously though, I would stick away... Although some people have had stunning effects with solid carbon dosing its REALLY easy to bleach & kill your coral. I'm sure a few can attest to this.

Vodka with a bacterial supplement is the way to go.

and thats my other option i looking at going vsv , i have no issues right now with nutrients in fact there everywhere just how i like them , the corals are growing fast and colorful , i am doing quite large water chages though....idk i dont want a ulns but i am looking at adding alot more food to my tank in the furture.

currently im feeding

3 cubes of mysis and about 2 cups of mixed foods a day to my small 25g tank lol not to mention the vit c dosing and dosing phyto and zooplankton daily as well.

I tried reading Denny's posts with a fast newf accent but I couldn't understand a ting I was reading, so I called a newfy neighbour to come on over and translate as I read. I took him about tin minutes to figure out my problem and issue a solution, apparently it's a dosing issue, he quickly ran home and picked up some newfie additives... under direct newf supervision, I added 16oz of screech to my system and as soon as my eyes cleared up (five minutes later) everything in dis here tread is as clear as day now der by ...:wink:
