I did a experiment when it looked like the beta was over and selected start-up Research lab / + 8% Production & + 8% Culture ... then -30% speed / - 13% defense


I had 4 planets to the next guys 2 planets in no time :cool: ... speed can be compensated for in the sciences ( 3 levels brings you back to even ) and concentrating on Math will make up for defense plus get your arrival time calculator faster

Getting social up to 10 as quickly as possible will also increase production

and attacking somebody in your sector so that you get XP and SU's as fast as possible

Beta doesnt start until the 28th, we going to start at the same time?

The Galactic Nemos over at RC are setting up a alliance for Beta 6 ... anyone interested ?

hmm, dunno about being a nemo. sounds strange...

Few of them were in the top 50 ... only a 1000A$ to join and there are almost 50 of them ! ... a good alliance to back you up will go a long way ... there is a staggered start time setup similar to what we are thinking ... I am leaning that way :cool: :mrgreen:

There is no " feeding " the top guy and they will come to the rescue if you are in need


most of the strategy I used in Beta 5 I got from the Nemo's at RC :wink:

ummm, so whats the benefits of being in an alliance besides someone to resuce your ass if you are in trouble?

Just curious, do I get any bonuses for being in an alliance? I never was in one.

The alliance as a whole has a chance to win the game ( 450 points for only 3 days I believe ) ... easy to setup Trade Agreements

I think a helping hand is the only real benifit, not 100% sure however.

being in an alliance gives yout he opportunity to learn as well. We may be better able to really kick come butt in our own allience after being in one ourselves. The nemos are a fairly respected group on Astrowars, it would be a great place to start.

Alliences can also help you expand and increase your level. Often people who are allied will toss small fleets at you and vice versa in order to boost your level.

Okay well I am game too, I have applied (hope to get in).

now just have to do some reading, the only down side of this is that I think that a big alliance will have a lower chance of wining based on the fact that you need everyone to do well to keep the average up.

Actually that is not quite true as depending on how big the alliance the bottom few dont get put into the average.

Welcome aboard though ... I think we can all learn from this alliance in this round and then have a Canreef Alliance in Beta 7 ... what do you all think ?

well I think that it may be a bit early to be thinking abut a CanReef alliance yet, I would hate to do that as you may be looked at as stabing the friends that you make with the nemo's in the back.

We were originally talking about a Canreef Alliance but since nobody here is familiar with how that works it only seemed logical to go in with the Nemos ... doing something different in Beta 7 does not preclude any alliances we make with the Nemos unless you want it that way ... the Nemos had NAP's and TA's with others in the last Beta ... this is a learning experience.

I do not see it as stabbing someone in the back.. who is to say we do not share an Alliance with them? I mean, why can't two alliances work together? Seems alright too me..

Every beta is just learning experience right?

And I doubt any of them will be upset if we made our own alliance later on.

Well if we are planing that I do think that when we do it we make sure to tell the nemo's our plan.
