Well if I get water in my tank first I'll let you know how the sicce pumps are. Im hoping they are as good as they say.
By the way, tank looks good, think the scribing really adds to overall look.

Not until the dimming pots are in dude. I gotta hide all the mess-ups =) Thx btw!

Myka 09-12-2011 02:34 PM

Looks like you bounced back after your setbacks a couple years ago. Good to see! Can't wait to see this tank in a couple years when it matures. Will be very nice I'm sure.

Thought I'd update with the reno progress I've made. I now have things to a point where I'm ready to put water in the tank. When my skimmer arrives things are going to start getting serious!

Dricore going in. Really tough managing reno materials with so little space down here!

Running water at last...

Bought a shop-vac specifically for cleaning my tank and sump out. Next step is a washdown of both. Not looking forward to that let me tell ya. The yellow extension cord is actually what's running my tank upstairs. I was shocked to discover how much crap was on the same circuit so I thought I'd use one of the tank-room's dedicated ones.

You'll be saddened to hear that the pole is coming out after the transfer lol. All it's good for is smoking my head on it and generally driving me nuts.

sphelps 09-29-2011 01:31 PM

Looking killer man, good news about that pole, I hate those things.

Blom 09-29-2011 01:41 PM

Looks amazing. Love the depth of the tank.

Delphinus 09-29-2011 02:44 PM

Looks fantastic!

lastlight 09-29-2011 03:02 PM

Thanks guys!

My wife is more anxious than anyone. She needs the tank's spot for the xmas tree upstairs. I also have that 20g mixing tank on the fridge and have since filled a 55g drum next to the fridge with ro/di for my topoffs and general use. It's looking pretty ghetto upstairs so she's cracking the whip harder than I am lol.

kien 09-29-2011 03:10 PM

Did you know that a large Timmies and a mixed berry bagel with strawberry cream cheese is $4.04?

Myka 09-29-2011 03:18 PM

You picked my fav color flooring! Can't wait to see this tank with something other than children and spiders in it. :D

We get better deals in SK, I can get a large Timmy's and a soup for $4.04 now that I think of it.

These are the new "gourmet" bagels so they are much more expensive. Certainly no deals with these suckers :-(. So yummy tho..

Chowder 09-29-2011 03:26 PM

Everything is looking really great. Amazing job so far. Can't wait to see it wet.

Chris

ALang 09-29-2011 03:39 PM

Do you NOT SLEEP??!
Seriously beautiful, Brett. Hope to get to see it in person one day.

Maybe we should all car-pool from Edmonton to have an tank visit when it is up and running!!

Got to be one of the nicest tank-build in a while!
Lenny.

lastlight 09-29-2011 04:50 PM

Thanks guys. I think I have room for 3 people sitting and maybe 4 or 5 standing down there. We'll have to do a series of tours haha.

And no I generally don't sleep enough. I've actuall been sleeping more in the last week than in the previous 4 or 5 months it's been awesome! Nice thing about small spaces is that things happen faster. I did all the painting and flooring yesterday.

Lance 09-29-2011 10:44 PM

Stellar build. Coming along nicely.

christyf5 09-29-2011 10:53 PM

Looks fantastic Brett. Although I would expect no less  Can't wait to see it up and running!!

Doug 09-29-2011 10:58 PM

Good work Brett. When one looks from the start to now, wow, what a change. See you used dri core under the floor. Happy with it so far. I had purchased enough for half my basement and was going to purchase the rest but sold the house instead. Thought it looked like a great product.

lastlight 09-30-2011 04:48 AM

Thanks guys!

Doug I used dricore in my last basement as well and it raises the room temp significantly I definitely would recommend it. I suppose it also technically gives me 3/4" better reach into the tank too

spawn 09-30-2011 02:43 PM

Great looking stand & reno. Looks really good.

Skimmerking 09-30-2011 07:05 PM

Brett you shoudl tile around the front of the tank on the ledge that would look smoking.

CGY_Betta_Guy 09-30-2011 07:12 PM

Awesome build. I got some major tank envy.

lastlight 10-07-2011 10:30 PM

GAME ON!

Huge thanks to Concept Aquatics for doing a big salt order for me and of course to my helper who specializes in cute photobombs.

http://www.fishbrains.net/images/404/salt.jpg

The Toyota Matrix was NOT happy!

Zoaelite 10-07-2011 11:16 PM

Addicted to the crystals too eh, my buddy decided to cross out all the Reef's on my buckets and replace them with "meth", get a good laugh out of it every time I do a water change .

This system is looking UNREAL Brett, can't wait to see it stocked!

globaldesigns 10-08-2011 03:57 AM

Ouch, that is alot of salt!

Delphinus 10-08-2011 05:17 AM

 Thassa lotta salt..

lastlight 10-08-2011 05:41 AM

Def getting close now! Still need a gate valve though. Picked up my return pump tonight as well as my dosing tanks. Cute little 5g guys I'll toss on a shelf.

lastlight 10-08-2011 05:47 AM

And I really wish these were meth crystals. Be a quick way to fund the rest of the build lol.

The Grizz 10-08-2011 05:51 AM

Damn Brett, I hope you got a sweet deal for that much crystal

Stones 10-08-2011 02:12 PM

Looking good as always man. Can't wait to see some water hit this build thread. You sure have a way of building up anticipation without even having a single coral or fish in your thread

doch 10-08-2011 02:51 PM

Looks amazing Brett! If I had a need for an office, I'd be very jealous of the view you will have from yours. Good luck with the filling... should be soon, eh?

lastlight 10-08-2011 03:17 PM

Thanks guys!

I just like to post... and there's more to talk about with a build than a running reef lol. If you want boring corals and fish I have another less popular thread haha.

Yeah I'm working out of my bedroom now in true ghetto style. My office will no longer be down here... mounting a tv on the wall across from the couch and doing a movie room area over there. Gotta find me some nice posters lol.

kien 10-12-2011 08:08 PM

Hey did you know that I placed 404th in the Calgary Marathon this past spring?

P.S. Looking good and getting exciting! That is a whole lotta NaCl yo!
