Yeah you did and I also giggled like a schoolgirl. We're both out of line!
Thanks btw. I still really don't like my livestock shots for some reason? |

other then , that I am starting worried that you are becoming a Homo. Love ya buddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddy:wink: |
After 2 more visits to the CoralMaster himself I wanted to post more pics. Previously I had picked up some toadstool which didn't photograph well and last night I grabbed 2 zoas and a green ric. here we go:
http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/bluezoo1.jpg http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/bluezoo2.jpg http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/bluezoo3.jpg http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/bluezoo4.jpg And this is a funny shot for two reasons. One my blenny is a real clown. He's hiding in his man-cave sporting a mustache. Two this frag I got from Kien a long time ago has NEVER branched. It's determined to put all it's eggs into one stick of a basket and touch that front glass. Like wtf? http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/bluezoo5.jpg |
I told you that toad stool was too small & not ready. I hope this won't make people think I'm in the "miniature" frag business.
|
Greg I forgot a disclaimer my bad! Folks that frag was NOT FOR SALE. I just harassed Greg until he let me have it =)
|
Tank is lookin good, and I think your blenny's mustache is very cool. Funny how it just grows out long and straight.
|
Oh my god Brett that thing is SO long!!!
|
kinda looks like it hangs to the left a little.
|
You can see it's gone limp near the tip as well. Thanks for caring guys =)
|
I think there's an additive for that Brett.
Anyway, it has gotten much longer since the last time I was at your place having a good look at it. Impressive! |

there's a coral? phew!

Tank's mostly been on auto-pilot lately but I have added some new frags. I wasn't able to get clear shots of the new stuff from John but I'm happy to report it all is alive and has pretty much all the color it arrived with.
I've been part of some epic battles against my hair algae rock and my bryopsis rock. I've managed to really thin the hair algae out but that bryopsis comes back thicker than before just days after a week-long pruning assault. I've read that unless you yank it entirely out at the root you're wasting your time. I'm still wasting my time not sure what else to do. Usual shot from my fav peephole: Early December for fun: http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/250s1.jpg Now: http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana1.jpg This gorg is really happy. Easily tripled in size since I got it and I just love it. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana2.jpg This acan has colored up pretty nicely. I've moved one acan colony into my rockwork and most of my others will follow. Really like how they look at a bit of an angle to the glass. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana3.jpg This favia is beginning to claim the rock it's sitting on. All part of my plan to have a ginormous colony of this stuff. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana4.jpg This teal sps is doing really well. It's new branch is longer than the parent... and it's sending out 4 or 5 new ones. You can see a few here which I'm stoked about. I guess I caught a bit of my superman digi in the bottom left. I have 3 seperate pieces now on the rock. Everytime I work in the tank and break something it's this coral! All 3 pieces are getting a lot of the blue in the body finally. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana5.jpg New acan from Coralmaster has some sweet colours in it. Not the greatest shot but I have it in the shade some as I acclimate it. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana6.jpg A. Plana from Coralmaster. Going to be one of my favorites. Love the fat polyps and subtle colouring. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana7.jpg A. aculeus from Coralmaster. Tough to see the cool colours it has in my shot which I guess is washed out or something but I'm excited to see this one grow too. http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana8.jpg And finally an ugly shot of this new algae I've been blessed with. It grows well at night and when the halides are off. It slowly dwindles away with the halides on but some always manages to stick around. Can someone please id? http://www.fishbrains.net/images/97/plana9.jpg |
Weird, looks like cyano but behaves the exact opposite it should be wrt light.. NO idea.
Everything looks great, filling in pretty good. |
Looking good Brett! You have some nice pieces there, and that Gorg is Bitchin'
Is that new algae a dark brownish colour and sort of like Cyano but more strandy. ........(strandish?) If so, I had a little of that and nuked it with sodium hydroxide and it never came back. |
Nice pics Brett. That gorg looks happy :)
|
I really like that gorg too mang......was that the algae-less angle you were talking about?.....looks like some decent growth there too....and the product your looking for is called enzyte.....the once a day pill for natural enhancement:mrgreen:
|
Lol I'll just stick to wheaties Doug!
Yeah that's the 'cleanest' angle. You can still see my bryopsis farm on the right hand side under the green/orange formosa. If I can figure out how to shoot a decent video with our p&s camera I'll show all the nasty bits too. |
I don't know how you guys do it but I can't keep SPS living in my tank. Really think I am missing something but therecis really no one around this area to come out and take a look see and give me some ideas.
Tank looks sweet Brett, nice job dude. P.S. Still want that pump  |
I love your gorg! I so want one but my evil flame angel would pick at it.
The tank is lookin good  |
Thanks but tanks don't get much simpler than mine =) I just automated my dosing otherwise yeah not much to my setup man. I test every 2 weeks now and shoot for 420, 8, 1400 and that's it. Only 5.5 hrs of halides right now as well but I want to get that back up to 7 again one day.
|
Tanks coming along real nice Brett. Those acros are coloring up nice and that's a sweet gorg you snagged there as well.
|
Thanks man.
Yeah people seem to like the gorg lol. I got it from Dez who in turn had gotten it from Tony (Delphinus) previously. |

The greatest. |
That they are =) I'm actually gifting a piece back to him sometime soon here
|
Now that the Gorg has made the rounds of Calgarian reefers, maybe it's time to send some out to the coast.
|
Was keep an eye on your tank, now I feel that I have to say: WOW.
Hope one day my sps will color-up and grow like that. Just need more time to test water parameters, I guess. |
Very nice Brett.

So I just wrapped up one of my most frustrating reefing nights ever. So glad I took pictures yesterday!
1. I decide I'm going to siphon some of that nasty algae on the sand up so I hookup the big siphon hose with the 3" tube on the end. It's not strong enough apparently to suck the actual algae up. Tank is a massive mess of debris and sand now. 2. In yanking the tube out I finally break the main part of the superman digi off the rock. I am swearing a lot now and my wife isn't too impressed. 3. expoxy/glue the colony back in place 4. Continue siphoning with just the hose and forget to see how much water it in my bucket. Love it! 5. Digi falls off 6. re-attach digi with a very ugly amount of epoxy. Be months before it looks nice again. 7. Go into tank-attack mode and do all the moving of my acans. 8. Toss in a waterchange 9. after i cleaned my skimmer pump today it wouldn't restart until i quickly poked the needlewheel so i opted to leave it running in case while i did the waterchange. It decides to totally overflow and dump today's skim back into the tank because the water level was too high after the change. Guess I never took out quite as much as i put in. 10. Blenny has been missing for 2 days. 11. Turn lights off and forget about it! So frustrated right now :twised: |
take a deep breath and count to ten.......happens to all of us man.....I feel ya....
|
Oh that sucks Brett and yes I have done the same thing myself other then braking off a Digi ( because I can't keep SPS alive ) just one of those bumbs in the road we all face, deep breaths, a couple stiff drinks and it will be better tomorrow.
|
Just take a deep breath and slowly back away.
P.S. I told you guys those pumps were crap! |
Lance you're referring to the Sicce PSK 2500s?

Yeah I'm not even running mesh. This is the stock SWC pinwheel. It was baffling and just a little irritating.

Another day in reef aquarium paradise eh  Sorry to hear but sorta glad to hear when it's not just me who has days like this ... day after day .. after day .. after day.
That skimmer is too new to be giving startup issues? Is the magnet perfectly cylindrical? Everytime I've had a pump with startup issues that wasn't on account of a mesh-mod, I think a swollen magnet was eventually found to be the cause. Very vexatious and I hope that's not the explanation! But might be worth checking next time you open the pump up. Lance we'll have to set you up sometime. Maybe not when it's minus a billion outside over here though. Ugh. But if you're ever out here drop me a line and we can do some gorgonian haircuts. |
