Picked up a couple more zoa frags at RC today but might have to re-do the aqua scape this week to break up the strong flow from the return's. Will not be able to do it tomorrow as I am delivering the Bow Front to the new owner's.

The Grizz 04-19-2010 03:15 AM

So I finally delivered the bow front to the new owner's today & stopped at Blue World. Pick up a few thing's, bought a new red scooter blenny, some more IO Reef Crystals and 2 500ml bags of NP Pellets.

So when I got home I cleaned up the 2 - TLF 150 PhosBan Reactors, dumped one bag in each, made a tee with a valve on each on and hook them to a Marineland Maxi-Jet 1800.

The last thing I need to do to have everything in as far as equipment & media is to put in the carbon bags into the skimmer boxes that I built.

Pic's tomorrow.

Triggz 04-19-2010 03:26 AM

We both know someone who has an eight foot tank that's made out of acrylic it's a 340g and the guy who has it is someone we don't get along with and isn't all that knowlegable hahaha I won't say names but we all know who that is lol

NP Pellets

"Pick up a few thing's, bought a new red scooter blenny, some more IO Reef Crystals and 2 500ml bags of NP Pellets".

I would be very interested to hear how your NP pellets work out. I've read everything that I can find on them and have just placed my order too.

The Grizz 04-19-2010 07:01 PM

I will let you know once I have tweeked everything so that it is running perfectly.

He doesn't count on the fact that he is an idiot.

The Grizz 04-20-2010 02:00 AM

A little video of the whole tank and down to the sump. Shows the NP pellets in the reactors dancing away, hope this is enough flow threw them.

Delphinus 04-20-2010 04:22 AM

Interesting idea to submerge the reactors. No worries about leaks there I guess! Looks like enough flow.

That's quite the level drop into your last chamber. You don't have microbubbles?

kien 04-20-2010 05:14 AM

Holy Hanna!! 8' is a heck of a lot of travel! It took a while to pan the length of that tank  Good thing my computer is nowhere near the tanks otherwise my fish would be wondering why they are stuck in a 6' box..

Looks great, and I'm jealous!

I figured that I had enough room in the sump for the reactor's so what the heck. I did the vid before I did my top off today. Return section is usually 1" - 2" lower then the reactor section but when it get's really low I do get a few bubble's.

YOU JEALOUS!!!!! I thought I would never here you say that ( one with 2 huge tanks 4' apart ). I am the one that is jealous of your tank with all the amazing sps in there. But I do appreciate the compliment, thank Kien.

bauder1986 04-20-2010 02:23 PM

fishytime 04-21-2010 12:12 AM

Nice job on the vid Greg......Tank looks great!.... love the open scape! looks like everything is doing great after the swap.....

The Grizz 04-21-2010 01:01 AM

Thanks Doug, I think I have to change the rock work to help distribute the pressure from the closed loop. Everything has done great in the move.

The Grizz 04-24-2010 02:04 AM

I noticed that I did not show the skimmers working there magic with the carbon boxes that I built out of acrylic.

Also had a nice addition to my clam collection from Terry. I have been giving him a hard time with the clam in a nano for the size of the clam. He finally gave in to the darkside.:twised:

And my little BTA seems to like it as well.

Zoaelite 04-24-2010 05:19 AM

WOW Greg the tank is really coming together, I really like the 8 foot shallow effect! I will PM you as soon as I make the frags and then they should be good in 2-3 weeks.

lockrookie 04-24-2010 05:22 AM

you had me at 8' .... this thread not only inspires me it gives me future ideas for a tank build 5 year plan. all in all its nice to see how all ppl in love with this hobby come together to help each other out. where a teasing over a clam goes from one tank to another. how a sale of a tank comes at the perfect moment to complete the build. there is more to a build than water,fish,corals,rocks.....friendship memories and dreams.

ok im done being creepy congrat on the 10 k :)

HEHE, call me KRESKIN THE MAGNIFICENT THEN!

Sorry, I saw blue fish, but looked again... Are those anthias?

So what do you think about having a closed loop? Can you tell us the benefits over traditional methods?

Well Kreskin, they are actually Blue Reef Chromis from what I have been told.

As far as the closed loop I really like it so far. Nice even flow through out the tank. Also noticed that there is less debris on the sand and rock, when I feed the fish what ever food it is time for it does not hit the sand. And there is power head sticking out like a soar thumb.

freezetyle 04-27-2010 05:06 AM

Those pics were good and all... not trying to be picky but that update was a bit incomplete. We need a FULL TANK SHOT!
