Ohh, lets see, stripped down 600ft of steel cored telephone cable from inside of mine, checked, coiled, and prepared to reinstall elswhere.

Reclaimed 130ft of 3c/ 2/O cable about (3"diameter) and affixed to side of 100ft vertical vent raise.

Watched air physically move 12 inches back and forth in front of me, for about 6 seconds, after they lit up a bag of AMEX explosives sitting on a boulder!!! :D Now THAT was cool!!!

Ohh, and I had a coffee

Leah 01-16-2010 11:17 PM

Okay you deserve a beer I guess.

lastlight 01-16-2010 11:18 PM

I wonder if hobby dosers are as loud as the one in this hopsital room. 140mL/hr and it's freakin loud with all the clicking.

Delphinus 01-16-2010 11:35 PM

I have (had) a tiger cowry in the sump of my 40g setup. It was sumped because it went predatory on the carpets and did a fair bit of damage to them before I figured out it was the cowry causing the carpets their injuries night after night.

Anyhow I found it sucked into the skimmer intake last night. I thought it had died because it was hanging out of the shell, and I waited a good half hour to see any signs of life and there were none. I was going to toss it but then thought, well, you know, it's actually a really pretty shell. I should let the shrimp and worms go at it and save me the yucky task of cleaning the shell. So I tossed it into the display tank.

Guess who wasn't dead????? Great, I have no idea where he's gotten to, and now he's loose in the tank back with the carpets. Yay.. a miracle of resurrection. But ah, yeah. FRACK. :(

What?

banditpowdercoat 01-30-2010 12:36 AM

Time to feed the fish!

kien 01-30-2010 12:55 AM

Why are so many "cube" tanks rectangular?? Am I missing something? Did I forget to take a class??

Delphinus 02-02-2010 07:09 PM

Whoever came up with the name "angel" for that kind of fish? It just seems to me they are anything but? By the same reasoning, a "flame hawkfish" should be a .. a blue .. a blue .. um .. what's the complete opposite of a hawk? Hmm .. Ok I know! A "blue pigeon".

It all comes down to perspective. My top down perspective might be a 2'x2' cube, when your perspective from the front is 2'x1' rectangle.

Cubes have 3 dimensions though ? What you are describing is only in 2 dimensions.

I think the proper term for all of these supposed cube tanks is a rectangular prism. Unless it is truly a cube. :-)

Delphinus 02-02-2010 09:40 PM

My 115g is a cube, so there! :p

Naww, Prism would have 3 sides would it not? More like just a Block LOL Ya Ohhh Come look at my Block tank. ya that doesnt sound as cool as Cube LMAO. But Cube is all sides same dimensions.

Well, there are Cubes (by your definition), 1/2 Cubes, and x/y Cubes... Dunno why I'm defending the cubers!.. I shut down my HALF-cube already.

Actually, a prism is just an object that has the same cross-section along a length, so in this case it is a rectangular prism. In fact, we can generalize them and refer to them as cuboid (a box-shaped object). It has six flat sides and all angles are right angles. And all of its faces are rectangles. There also exists square prisms when two of the lengths are equal, but even those can be classified as rectangular prisms.

Well, all cubes are rectangular, but not all rectangles are cubic.

Leah 02-04-2010 07:46 PM

Depends

Chase31 02-04-2010 07:53 PM

Don't worry about it. You have nothing in your tank so it is okay. The tank is cycling and this is part of the process. Once the bacteria starts to develop it will consume the ammonia and convert it to Nitrite, then Nitrate.. thus is the cycle :-)
