Nice guy, tries hard. I can live with that.

Of course there is gold in the water, wouldn't be epic without it now would it? You really should be doing something constructive like building your post count!

Thanks, was never really a fan of acrylic (had one years ago) but I guess you really do get what you pay for, the build quality on this tank is spectacular. Only one small hicup after a power outage, everyone is doing well, still thinking about how I want to finish the room off.

Mrfish55 01-04-2010 09:38 PM

The last planned addition to the tank, finally added my Emporer, was a little concerned how it would go as he is quite small but allready has become the ruler of the tank, funny watching the jumbo French run and hide when the Emporer gets in one of his moods (come to think of it perhaps he is a she:lol:)
http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...5/IMG_2533.jpg
And a group shot to show how small it really is

Nice score Dave. He/she is a beauty. Wifey is happy I bet. Hard to believe Frenchie is afraid of it; could gulp it down in one bite.

Yes she is pleased, I was concerned how the addition would make out after the gongshow when I added the trigger, so when I put this guy in I fed the tank at one end and added him at the other end, he immediately went over and chased everyone away from the food, sure has made the whole tank more lively.

christyf5 01-04-2010 10:27 PM

LOL well at least you didn't add him through the feeding hole

Thanks, pretty happy with this tank, seriously considering shutting down the small tank though, only thing stopping me is my bubble coral, had that one too long to part with.

Must be nice to be able to call a 300g a small tank. How come you're considering shutting down the reef?

Partly the last hydro bill but mostly not happy with how it has progressed over the last year, seems to be one problem after another, have a battle on with red turf algea now, that stuff is a real PITA. Seems I am constantly fighting the reef yet the FOWLR only needs food and every couple weeks wipe it down, no dying corals, no pest algea, no expensive equipment that seems to break as soon as I leave the house etc etc etc. Rant over, I'm going to drink a bottle of 20 year old scotch before it goes bad :twitch: Next time Marie starts talking bigger tank I'll give her the deal of the decade.

I can't imagine your hydro bill. Mine's bad enough with only 400 gallons of water!
I think Marie has changed her mind. When she thinks about moving all those SPS colonies it kind of scares her off. Can't blame her.
I've got a beer in my hand right now, so I'll tip my beer to your scotch and here's to 2010 being kinder to your reef.
PS: If you leave that 20 yr old scotch untapped for another 20 you can sell it and buy yourself a solar panel.

banditpowdercoat 01-05-2010 03:55 AM

You think your hydro's bad LOL, try having tanks AND a 18,000W powder coating oven LOL. Although, the oven makes me money hahaha.

But ya, to call a 300g a small tank!!!

Acctually, the PC biz has never made enough profit for me to write ANY of my power off :( But I do get break's elsewhere!

bauder1986 04-18-2010 04:31 PM

hey! I would like an update on this tank

Mrfish55 04-18-2010 11:42 PM

Few months back I lost all three large angels (French, Queen and Blue face) within 24 hrs, suspect it was some bad food, thru the rest of that batch away and did a large water change, never lost any others, was pretty upset about losing the three, they were the favorites and seriously considered selling it off, however stepped back and let it be, all is doing well and the Clown trigger and Emperor angel are growing quick so I think in time they will fill the void. I will try and get some fresh pics up here in the next few days. The reef is another story all together, seems it is going down the same path it did last spring, corals that were growing and doing well suddenly RTN for no reason, not going to add anything new to that tank, when it gets to the point I cant stand to look at it anymore I will break it down and sell it off.

PoonTang 04-18-2010 11:48 PM

Really sorry to hear about the losses :( Those fish were amazing, to say the least. It would seem a shame to throw it all in after you put so much work into it and the 300G. Are you running Ozone or anything on the 300G? perhaps its some kind of pathogen.

No Ozone, although I could thow it on there and see if it makes a difference, funny thing is everything has been working like a fine watch, no glitches with any equipment and regular testing shows nothing abnormal, some stuff is doing real good, some just hanging in there and some that was doing real good just dropped dead without warning, looks great one day and shiny white skeleton the next, go figure.

SeaHorse_Fanatic 04-19-2010 04:29 AM

Oh Dang it. I loved seeing such big beautiful angels in your tank when I came to visit. I'm coming up to PR again next weekend if you want me to bring up anything.

How's about that 16" Yellowfin tang someone is selling in Abby:biggrin:

Mrfish55 06-11-2010 01:30 AM

Got myself a new video camera so here is a short clip, time off comming up so should find time for some updates, Cheers.

LOL, that sailfin tang cracks me up every time I see it. I've never seen a fish with triple chins before

Chaloupa 06-11-2010 01:35 AM

Awesome! Hey, any chance you would have room for a red and white squirrel fish in your mix?

Funny how with all that space to swim around he just hangs out in the corner waiting for more food, I cant really cut back on the feed that hits the water, that bloody snapper gets cranky and starts eating the little guys.

How Big? if its cranky it could allways live in the sump, not as bad as it sounds tho as the sump is 250gal.

He's about 3.5-4 inches and isn't cranky at all, actually did quite well with a mixed reef but, there aren't many appropriate homes for it here! But he's quite entertaining and certainly healthy. Wish I'd asked yesterday, could've sent it over to you today with my Mom. If you want, it's yours as you could give it a much better home than it's in right now. Can I send it over next time? I'd really appreciate it!

I'm sure it will be quite happy in the 750, I will be on the Island on the 23rd, if the timing works out I can pick it up or we can figure out another way to get it here, no worries.

AWESOME! That would be fantastic!!!! I really appreciate it! We will get it arranged so he goes home with you!

Mrfish55 09-02-2010 05:00 AM

Guess it's time for an update on this, everything has been fine since the unexpected loss of the large Angels, new additions are growing and everyone is fine, I did discover that rabbits (as in the furry long ear type) find power cords to be quite tasty (long story) needless to say there has been a few upgrades and changes to the equipment, will try and get some updated pictures soon, that nem from Marie was absolutely huge today, don't think it was happy with the warmer temperatures, the Clarkki's are so nasty the Clown Trigger steers clear, funny to watch.

lastlight 09-02-2010 05:23 AM

I know you didn't offer to shoot us a video but we're going to REALLY enjoy it all the same. ETA?

marie 09-02-2010 05:33 AM

I haven't missed that damn female clarkii the least little bit, why I ever thought it was a good idea to get her a mate and a home I'll never know.

Feel free to visit them anytime, they actually behave for the most part, although I do believe they are responsible for the nips I see out of the odd fin on eveyone else (being as they are pretty much the only ones not missing a small part somewhere, it must be them)

Tank is doing well, will get some updated pics soon, my computer suffered a meltdown, currently using my 12yr old Dell and I think the hamster that powers the hard drive is ready to retire, wouldn't dare try and upload any pictures right now.

Greenmaster 03-05-2011 02:58 AM

When are you going to post a pic/video with the Morish Idol in it?
