Yeah I really just wanted something that kept things clean and hidden, and made for easy water changes / sump access... and something that looked cool ahah

I'm working on getting some better pictures... the last one of all the stand compartments open was actually taken with C's old camera cause the D90 was up at my parents house. I still haven't had the time I'd like to sit down and really figure the camera out. It's weird the wireless remote I ordered doesn't seem to work if it's more than a foot or two away?? Stupid ebay... I'm assuming it's just a crappy remote??

Thanks... I try to show some of the room from time to time cause I know I like to see where people have their tanks, and b/c it keeps things in perspective. That was the only place the tank could really go but it's pretty good viewing from the couch so I'm happy. Now I just need to get a nice fish eye lens and I'll really be able to show how it looks in the rest of the room ahah

Plus I always see tanks that look good on the close up but then when you get a true fts with stand and all it's just buried in test kits, buckets, fish food, nets etc. nothing worse than a nice tank being a total eyesore b/c of the mess of everything else. Which is why I designed the stand with lots of usable space.

Thanks... my favorite part of the design is still how accessible the sump is and how easy it makes water changes... even though somehow I still don't do them as often as I should.

Here's the water change video again.

Is the remote made by Nikon?

Yeah cheap imitation and the savings aren't even worth it. You can get the real Nikon ML-L3 for under $20.

superduperwesman 02-17-2009 10:25 PM

Dang that sucks... cause it should work from more than a foot away right??

And just in case anyone is wondering:

The zoas started out as one colony:

Thanks. One of the things I'm most happy with is the natural growth all over the rocks.

Thanks :) To be honest I couldn't even remember what the categories were or how many prizes there are ahah.

superduperwesman 04-23-2009 03:41 PM

So I sprung a leak on Saturday past

I came home and the sump level was down a little more than usual... and the carpet was a little damp... and the sump side of the stand was slowly dripping water. So in a mad panic I started looking for the leak... couldn't really tell where it was coming from so I ripped it all apart:

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...n/DSC_0563.jpg

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...n/DSC_0564.jpg

http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m...n/DSC_0565.jpg

Which sucked b/c as you can see the remainder of my stuff that I moved in after the wedding is not even fully unpacked / organizing

So I leak tested the sump and the overflow and everything seemed fine... at which point I realized that I had not cleaned the gutter guard in a while. So I'm pretty sure the water was slowly dripping over the edge of the tank into the sump chamber and onto the floor b/c for those who remember the floor is actually slightly tilted to that side so it'll overflow the tank on the sump side first.

SO needless to say I felt like a bit of an idiot but it was nice to rip it all apart and see that it's not a huge job when it needs done. Plus I was able to give everything a good clean and position my pump a tiny bit better when I reconnected the piping.

But it's now Thursday and everything is doing fine and no more water on the floor so all is good and I'm pretty sure the gutter guard was the only problem

I blame you ahah. Your question of leaks was what made me skip the idea of cleaning my gutter guard... b/c after the dreaded question "it had to be a leak" ahah JK

With leaks like that, maybe you shouldn't get to comfortable with completely unpacking.

(I really think you should scrape the glass though)

Looks good! Glad it all fit for you but I see you still have some more space, you should head back for some more

Well techically any water not in the system is a leak. Glad your dry now and nothing but a wet carpet and little worry was the result. Great tank.

superduperwesman 10-21-2009 06:15 PM

This tank has been severely neglected since the contest ended because we're building a house so I'm gauging interest, anyone interested?

I've lost a few things but I'll post some pics later if anyone is interested?

Well since you beat me in the contest I'll pay you $200 to bring it down to Saskatoon and blow it up in my yard for my amusement. After I take out the livestock of course.

Myka 10-21-2009 11:00 PM

Hahaha!
