Yeah, I'm thinking it looks like a Yellowfin, Acanthurus xanthopterus. If so, that's going to be one BIG boy!!!

built a floating canopy today to try and organize lighting and reflect more back into the tank as opposed to all over the room. While were at it might as well add some halides, a 250W for the sps end and a 150w for the Lps end. It turned out pretty good, still need to put the t5s back up.

FishyFishy! 10-17-2015 02:02 PM

I think I see a red coris wrasse in there. How has he been? My last one was fairly large. He was destructive as heck. Would flip rocks and corals, ate tonnes of hermits. I would love to get another one.

Roskoreef 10-17-2015 02:19 PM

The red Coris was one of my first fish, he has survived a few ich outbreaks, awesome fish. But yes any new corals or rocks I add he flips and looks for pods. After something has been in the same spot for a while he seems to leave it alone. Mine doesn't eat prepared foods tho, he only eats pods it seems. Oh and hermits of course, they don't have a chance with the bigger wrasse anyway.

I have a Gem Tang that's mounted - maybe someone wants a mounted Anthias. :D

Do you always have that much particulate in your water or did they just stir it up?

lol never heard of fish taxidermy, and no not always as much particulate, those wrasse love to stir up any detritus that pods might be hiding in..

my mini carpet anenome emerged today, i havent seen it in months and then out it came out from under a colony.. it was green and whiteish when i put it in and now green, red and blue.. shotty picture.

http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...pstm9lpc9z.jpg

tank is doing quite well despite some small algae patches and fish fights all is good, alk had a bit of a jump from 7 - 8.9 - new salt tested 10.5 after 24hrs mixing (h2ocean) - usually 9 or so. I did a 20g water change and also noticed my calcium reactor was flowing a little faster than before ( i moved it recently ).. corals dont seem to mind, fish seem slightly agitated... oh well

efflo is growing fast, nice blueish purple now,

Nice looking fishes! How much was that angel?

How many fishes do you have in your tank now? Seems like a huge bioload!

Angel was 100$, yeah lots of fishes lol, if i count now i beleive (if my chromis count is on) i have 7 tangs, 4 wrasse, 2 angels, 2 puffers, 16 chromis, 2 anthinas....33 fish i think. I did also upgrade my skimmer big time so im not too worried about the bioload with a skimmer thats rated for 750 gallons.

16 chromis! I have 2.

Seeing you keep the puffers make me want to add one too. I have 3 shrimps and a couple of hermits (these are expendable, but the shrimps I have an attachment to). Wonder how it will work?

what kind were you thinking ? I know most puffers will eat crabs and shrimp , I have 2 dogface puffers and a smaller blue spot puffer and they will eat crabs and shrimps . You might be able to get away with a porcupine puff . My big Dogface has become quit tame over the years have had him going on 10 years now he use to eat anything I put in there but now he will only eat new spectrum pellets and he leaves everything else alone now .

So i have a long spine porcupine and a reg porcupine puffer, the long spine is still timid and has barely eaten what i have fed in weeks, but the other was the same till one day he went crazy for large new life spectrum pellets..he eats them like cookies lol you can hear the crunch.. probably good for the teeth. im hoping the long spine will do the same, but neither bother my other fish so far or my corals. i still have 2 cleaner shrimp but i only ever see their antennaes rarely..fwiw

on a bad note, had an alk swing due to apex not being updated (fixed now) and dropped my ph in the calc reactor to 5.9 and temp to 29c, it just left all outlets on regardless of programming..anyway my huge efflo and several others have began to stn.. some from top, some from bottom, but alot of my favourite pieces... may have to frag some or glue. everything else was good but there were several swings...hope they can stop and heal.
