Gotta say Greg your pictures have gotten so much better over time I'm impressed! Tank looks bangin' to boot.

Twilight on the reef

My twilight lighting is a mix of Fiji Purple & Blue plus T5 bulbs along with LED moon lights - this makes for an interesting display of colors so here are a few different angles & focus points from the RH side viewing pane

Sorry that there are light spots from the LED's in the 130 gal in the fish room bleeding into the picture background.

Snappy 03-25-2015 05:08 AM

Another Twilight shot

Here is a shot from the front with my chromis school. Not real big on photographing with actinic lighting but I thought this looked kind of cool the way some fish are lit up & some aren't - most of the fish were directly under the LED moonlights so they look very blue in this shot.

Yup, your tank is something to behold alright... Wish I could see it in person. I like a full packed colorful SPS tank. Keep the pics coming... Gives the rest of us something to dream about...

daplatapus 03-25-2015 02:16 PM

Every time I see you've updated this thread I get tank envy...

That is one sweet set up

Thanks that one is CM Pacific Chaos - It can be a challenging acro but when it's cooperating it is pretty sweet (at least in my humble opinion). My camera is seldom able to capture the tints of red throughout.
Does best in strong light, high flow, low nutrient environments.

Very nice Greg. I'm going to have to come by for some frags soon. Tank is all dialed in and ready to start loading in the sps :).

Thanks Mike I'll look forward to seeing you soon. Hopefully that tank is working well for you.

it's hard to get an idea of your length in those shots Greg but wow the colours are poppin'!

I would love colour like this. Actually, I would love any colour other than light brown!

I was tempted to take this in a different direction but since it's a family show I'll just say the tank is 8 feet long.

Any particular reason that you are aware of as to why are you not getting color in your sps?

I'm trying to figure it out. Some corals are very vibrant, some not so much

That is no different than me, I think most of us have that problem.

Snappy 04-07-2015 11:01 PM

The blue ridge is in full bloom today so I snapped a quick shot with my iPhone.

another crappy phone picture

Cleaning the back glass is way overdue - big job so I am doing it a section at a time. Just the center area left.

Snappy 04-07-2015 11:24 PM

Since I've posted a couple of crappy phone pix - why stop there?
Here are 2 more except these are a little "more gooder" quality.

I have been trying for a long time to get a decent picture of my Atlantic blue chromis pair and they never turn out - then like magic this one just happens to swim by photo-bombing my coral shot. Ironically this is the best picture of them I've been able to take.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...psesp1qkpt.jpg

Personally I think the Heliopora coerulea (blue ridge) is a rather under rated coral.

ya At that size its really magnifcent. Nice to see it morph to its potential how long have you been letting it grow for

Thanks.
I got the colony off another reefer back in 2005ish and it was about 3-4 inches then. It is now about 14 inches across x 8 inches deep x 12-14 inches tall. Not all blue ridge are created equal as they come in a variety of growth forms. I have another large colony in another tank that mainly just encrusts & plates. I much prefer this type that grows into the finger like columns. It looks very cool top down as well and has always had that that same sort of growth form as in the picture. I personally think it gives a lot of character to the reef even though it's not a pretty color.
