OK I call BS! You mean to say some provinces got a holiday and some didn't? You Canadians sometimes confuse me:mrgreen:

As far as I know we don't have it in Newfoundland - I've never had it anyway. I'm almost 100% sure - most people grumble down here that there is no holiday between New Year and Easter.

Canada
Main article: Family Day (Canada)

Nearly 60% of Canadians observe a statutory holiday on the third Monday of February. The holiday is called Family Day in three provinces (Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario), Louis Riel Day in Manitoba, and Islander Day in Prince Edward Island. There is no federally-established Family Day.

Family Day is unrelated to National Family Week, a campaign put on each October by the Canadian Association of Family Resource Programs, a non-profit organization. It is not a statutory holiday, but is generally recognized and celebrated by community organizations across the country.

This holiday was first observed in Alberta in 1990, followed by Saskatchewan in 2007 and Ontario in 2008.

Ok I am going to play devil's advocate here. As an employer I hate stat holidays, just another day I have to pay someone not to be working at my shop. I get taxed to death and as far as I am concerned I want to bring back the good ol days when if you didn't work you didn't get paid....and people wonder why the economy is so screwed up. :twised:
