Two Tunze streams
1 Maxi Mod w Maxijet 1200
1 MP40W Vortech
1 Tunze Wavebox
1 Mag 9 return pump

11,626 GPH Flow rate :mrgreen:

77.51 times per hour turnover

My DT is 180 gallons with majority of coral being SPS, running the following:

4X Koralia #2's = 600gph each = 2400 gph
1X Vortech MP40W = 3000 gph
2X Returns from AquaMedic Oceanrunner 6500 = 1700 gph total

Total GPH = 7100gph

Total turnover at 39.5X per hour.

Never did post up for my 30G cube..

MP20 = 2000GPH
Return = 500GPH

2500 / 30G = 83x TO...

Got my 105G coming this week though and this is my plan for that:

MP20 x 2 = 4000gph
Koralia 3 = 850gph
Tunze 6045 = 1200gph
Return = 500gph

6550 / 93.5G (act. water volume in DT) = 70x TO

If the sand stays put with that setup, I might add a 2nd K3 or 6045... :mrgreen:

wow soo much turn over for ur 30 gallon doesnt ur water just go crazy?

JDigital 12-11-2009 06:13 AM

^^ Not really.. water stays in the tank, that's all that matters to me.. That's on a braceless/trimless tank as well. Its also 98% SPS too... thought about adding another K1 or K2, but no point now that my new tank is coming.

When the sand starts to lift into the water column... or the tips of my SPS start to burn.

I'll play!

20g DT
150 gph return (Eheim 1250)
500 - 2000 gph Vortech MP-20
650 - 2150 gph = 33 ~ 108x Turnover

lobsterboy 12-11-2009 06:57 AM

i added a sieo pump rated at 1000 gph. :razz:

so its something like 11,950 gph now.

Whats Your Flow 2011??

Lobsterboy started this back in 2009......and I find the data very interesting to see the turnover rate in all of your displays. So lets update our data in this link and keep it going. I see that many people in the past that input data have increased the amount of flow in their displays....it will be interesting to see what they look like now.

1. Please give your type of tank: Mixed Reef / SPS / Softies
2. Tank Volume (display only)
3. Pumps and GPH rating
4. Turnover rate (GPH Grand Total / divided by display volume)

Mixed Reef - Sofies and SPS
140 Gallon Display
2 x MP40 Vortech - 6400 gph
Tunze 6055 - 1500 gph
Koralia 3 - 850 gph
Mag 18 return Pump - 900 gph

Total 9650 / 140 = 68.9 X Turnover
