Is it just me, or does Vertex have the worst web site ever?

Agreed
Their site is terrible
Doesn't matter what you want to look at; some items old/new are not included
Makes it difficult to make a decision about purchasing

Terrible site. Bad advertising.

Hey, I'm buying a new welding helmet (random thought thread so ... )

No wonder they lost the war.

Meh... a helmut that expensive isn't worth it IMHO (even $130). I always used cheap ones and had no complaints... but to each his own.

You, my son, have never had to wear prescription glasses behind a helmet long-term, have you ... or have you ?

I'm welding all day long right now, and I mean 8 hours straight. Included is all the smoke/fumes etc. I'm wearing a snorkel setup on my face mask under my helmet, ear plugs because I'm burning 3/8-1/2 welds and comfort/visibility is a MUST. You come hear what I'm welding for a few minutes and you'll agree you need earplugs. Then you'll see the smoke ...

Helmet quality is not something to skimp on in this situation, especially when I'm building bases that support 7-11,000Lbs.
And our Engineering Dept expects our measurements to be withing 1/16"
No wonder so many guys in our Production crew don't want to build bases.

I'm doing OK at it.

Good thing this is just the Random Though Thread or I'd feel bad for posting

Greg, you can get a setup, that fits under a helmet, that has two hoses, that go over the shoulders and end up at just above your belt, on your back where there seldom is smoke. There, there are two canisters that filter the air. The ones I used, filter out not only particles, but all chemicals.
If you need more info let me know

Thanks D
I actually ordered that same setup already
Now I just need to get some very cheap scrip glasses so I don't burn my new scrip safeties. I got some splatter in the helmet yesterday and now have a couple small melted/burnt spots on the inside of them. Luckily they're low enough that I only see them when in sunlight.

You can get prescription inserts for most helmets

Also if you rivet leather to the back of the helmet you won't get as much splatter inside your helmet or on the back of your neck

Tyler I replied in my thread

Its amazing how long a 10# co2 tank will last on a calcium reactor without using a low pH shutoff

I guess I should probably test my water some day....
