So earlier today I watched my flame wrasse female clean my butterfly. The butterfly actually followed her around for a few minutes too wanting to be cleaned more. "Can you do this side now?" .. Wish I could have been able to film it.

Yesterday was a routine gong show, now I just got power back after a 5 1/2 hour outage and I have a plane to catch in 7 hours, any takers on my flight being cancelled due to high winds? These things happen in threes right.

Spent the day cleaning fish poop from the inside of my tank stand because my skimmer on multiple occasions decided it would be fun to eject fish poop bubbles from its skimmer cup holes. Good times. I'm hoping I get to do this more often.

Thanks man! I was into saltwater a long time ago but had to take a break from the hobby. I actually frequented this board but you probably don't remember me, it's been so long now.. Anyway, I'm trying to get back into the hobby. Any suggests on what a guy should read to get started up again? There has been so many changes since the last time!

Worst part about my controller telling me the power's out is that i know:
nobody's home for a few more minutes
the power went out at 5am
the power was out until 10am
I think I might have a slow leak in my overflow
the controller still hasn't turned back on........

:(
this could be a bad sight when i get home.

Good luck, my power was out for 5 1/2 hours last night, luckily it was before Mallmart closed cause my gen blew and I had to buy a new one  there goes another $300. was up till 2 this morning making sure everything was set for my wife as I left on the 7am flight this morning and not back till fri.

fishoholic 01-24-2012 02:13 AM

F U stealth heater!!!!!!!!!! Had my stealth heater fail, it was blowing out black smoke and sparking my GFCI  So at some point between last night and this afternoon it tripped my GFCI. Rushed to help my Mom out this morning (naturally one of the only times I didn't check my tank before leaving) and by the time I got back home and noticed my battery back up power unit was out of power and the fowlr and frogfish tank had no power running to them at all  got extention cords started ran powerheads and a heater to the froggy tank (it dropped to 70 ) and through the long process of elimination I discovered the stupid stealth heater was the issue  What's sad is that I should of thought to check that first since the last time I had issues with getting shocked by my tank it was a different stealth heater that was the problem :bad-word:

On the amazing positive side of things  everything in my tanks seem to be fine.

The Grizz 01-24-2012 02:32 AM

OMG Laurie, hope everything is ok in your tanks.

Nano 01-24-2012 02:35 AM

My scooter blenny ate so much today he looks like he's going to POP. Yet he's still feeding on pods. I put the turkey baster in with some mysis and he swam to the tip and waited lol funniest thing ever.

Thanks, I must say I was pretty freaked. Thank god (literally) that all my fish, corals, inverts etc. all seem fine. Don't think I could handle any more major losses ATM.

Seems like it was a day for power outages I hope Mrfish55 and lampshade's tanks are ok

lastlight 01-24-2012 05:35 AM

Glad to hear everything survived the hiccup Laurie I would have been freaking out! Toss some jagers in there...

Delphinus 01-24-2012 06:58 AM

Man alive! What a thing to deal with on top of everything! Hope everything works out for you Laurie (and Lance and MrFish too!!)

Thanks, My main 300watt heater is a jager, thinking I'll stick with those. Although my 80g and 10g frogfish tank have Rena smart heaters, so far they seem to be ok heaters. Never buying a stealth again!

Thanks, I'm still amazed that my frogfish was ok, tank was at 70 and no flow, it would of been awful if I had lost him, thank god he and my other fish were all ok. Was pretty stressful to deal with.

Delphinus 01-25-2012 02:17 AM

So I have been talking with Chris at Reeflo Pumps on and off the last few months and he is sitting on a number of Baldor motor pumps that he's offering a smoking deal on (because the new aluminium motors they come with now match the size of the AOSmith motors, so they are a better fit for people who are replacing AOSmith motor Darts in stands and other tight spaces, etc. With Baldor having an amazing reputation for longevity, I thought, what the heck, I'll go for it, it's a new pump for 1/2 retail.)

So with that preamble aside ...

Oh my dear GAWD those pumps are insanely enormous!! I had no idea looking at pictures of Darts with Baldors how ridiculously enormous they are!!! Here I am all excited to look at "my new reef toy that came in the mail today .. whee!! *rip rip rip open open open* .... Ohhhhhh my."

I'll have to post some side by side photos of the two versions of pumps .. it is hard to imagine they are the same model they are so different in size.

Glad to hear you made out ok with your tank, I don't get home till late Friday, last I heard we are having high winds back home, sure hope my tank does not suffers too bad, two consecutive bad days in a row is enough for me.

If you think somethings wrong you think it's wrong, reasons are debatable. To be able to accept an opinion plus respond without spazzing with six guns a blazing shows class... There is more six guns lately then class.

Hope I'm not the pot needing a bullet proof screen

We're watching "i didn't know I was pregnant." How can people be so stupid that they don't know they are pregnant until it falls out? You think if these people couldn't tell, how dumb will their kids be?

Yeah, I always thought that these people who don't know they're preggie for 9 months should NOT be allowed to raise those kids. Just nuts, IMO.

Nano 01-27-2012 02:40 AM

Lol most likely. I just can't wrap my head around it, we knew my wife was pregnant before she even tested lol.

Hmm. My wife was pregnant at 5 months and didn't know. My daughter might be dumb though, as she was born the next day at 957 grams, spent 168 days in the hospital and could possibly have brain damage. As is, she has paralyzed vocal chords and can't speak, and breaths through a tracheotomy tube. So it's hard to tell how smart she is, since she can't communicate other than with the sign language we've taught her.
Mostly, my random thought for you right now might get me banned.
