the radions are a superior fixture to the sol or vega. the sol will have a higher par directly under the fixture but the radion will have a higher par over a larger area and a more complete spectrum. Great build and nice comparison.

Beside my lighting dilemma I finally got my Profilux dosing pump hooked up and running. Thing are growing like crazy now. My alkalinity was quite low causing the calcium levels to be high so after a week of dosing only 10ml a day of alk they are getting close to balanced. The corals have taken off, I have never had such good growth. In keeping with my initial idea of a self contained unit I had my friend Chris (lapdog2020) to build me a new top off/dosing chamber tank.....

I'm absolutely loving your setup. So well thought out and clean! Thats what I'm going for in my new build too.

subman 12-18-2012 10:11 PM

My lighting dilemma is over I sold all my lights and bought 3 GHL Mitras.
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b8...213_210605.jpg
I have to say they are head and shoulders above all the other lights I've owned
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b8...218_173845.jpg
Huge thanks to Ken at BWA for ordering them and putting up with my daily inquiries about them being in yet lol

subman 12-18-2012 11:34 PM

I also picked up some new waveline dc5000 return pumps from concept

Thanks to Denny and Sheldon for bringing them back to e-town for me.

Proteus 12-19-2012 12:16 AM

kien 12-19-2012 12:55 AM

Seriously tho, those Mitras are kick arse and they indeed appear to be flooding your tank with some major photons! Can't wait for the Mitras pro. :behindsofa:

Impressive build.

I love the clean organized electrical station. Good job!

kien 02-16-2013 05:31 AM

whoa! That's some tidy job there! Sometimes it pays to be a little OCD I guess LOL. Seriously, if you're bored can you come tidy my electrical?

Wait, why do you have two controllers??

Nice panel!

I need to do something like that with mine! We have a bunch of old cable trays at work that I could put to good use.

Well it wasn't really planned to run two controllers, but I bought the second one used for a few parts that were included. It actually became easier to set up two separate p2's (I don't want to shell out for a p3 :twised:) I am running four power bars, a doser (one more coming), the lcd display, ATO and its running my sol. I'm sure I could get everything to run off one but I like the options running 2 gives me.

subman 03-11-2013 03:48 AM

ATO container v1.3

So after months of using my current at water container, I was having problems with the amount of actual water it held. So after some brainstorming I thought about using acrylic tubes mounted inside my old larger container so I could maximize water capacity but still have my dosing chemicals contained in it..... So after a quick visit to Saco polymers I put these together... http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b8...psf9b09d27.jpg

They hold just under 2L each and I decided to not attach them to the tank but to leave them mobile for ease of cleaning and refilling.

Here they are installed....
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b8...psa93200d1.jpg
Not a great pic sorry.

So my water capacity went from about 5gal to about 30g a much needed increase.

Xadieu 03-11-2013 03:57 AM

very nice! i like the clean looks you have

Proteus 03-11-2013 04:01 AM

Looks classy

wmcinnes 03-11-2013 05:47 AM

such a good idea. my ATO reservoir is only 6 gallons and I have to fill it back up every 24hrs or so. sucks!

Bugger 03-24-2013 12:51 AM

Really nice build but I'd like to see you do something about the light rack it looks like to much metal. Maybe just hang the lights individually

Thanks for the feedback. It actually looks like way less metal in person. I like it because it gives me flexibility to move, add or god forbid change lights without having to drill any extra holes in the ceiling.
