These books rock!

just had a flip through the coral of the world set, and i gotta say it ROCKS!!

there are sooo many great pictures and diagrams, that get right down into detail for a ton of SPS, and their sub divisions. Highly impressed with the set.

So i was going through my photos and found that i had alot of my neon green stag, so i figured it was time for a growth sequence. I cant remmber when i got this, but I am guessing its about either late Jan or early Feb this year.

wow that slimer has really taken off!

fishytime 08-22-2009 02:20 PM

Dont you just love fast growing corals like stags, montis and the birdsnest family? Great for the ego!....I have a stag that has just broke the surface(it doesnt seem to like the air too much) Looks great there bye.

I was a big fan of stags earlier this year for their growth, as well as monits and birdnests, but now leaning towards, clustering SPS like stylos, and porites, some of the natural reef pics I seen are pretty dope.
and right on for your breacher.

new piece from Red Coral

so i have been eyeing this piece this piece at Red Coral for sometime now.

red coral corals

i finallt got my SPS in the tank. that were ordered from Red coral;s lastorder.

great pieces and still had a few in store, there was a great green hummlis, I would have gotten but my budget was already spent.

Thanks for the nice pieces Kevin.

no pics, as my camera is out for the count.

Myka 09-19-2009 11:46 AM

That last pic is a pretty cool looking coral!!

Boo on your camera for being broken!

kien 09-19-2009 07:39 PM

d'oh! I was hoping for some pics of your latest grabs :-) Ya, I almost grabbed that humilis too but I already got more than I probably should have and I started to feel guilty.. hehe

That monolithic looking coral is cool.

lobsterboy 09-20-2009 05:19 AM

pics will come as soon as i have a new camera, so patience, haha.

yeah that monolithic style coral, haha, i thought i was strong enough to with stand is power, it kept telling me, "buy me, buy me" , in the end, i was weak.
haha.
its starting to do, nothing, i did have to move it twice now, so i will give it a week or two, and see what happens.

eh Kien, all your SPS are sick, great picks.

ALBERTA REEF 09-20-2009 05:39 AM

Okay! Where are the pic's? Still figuring out the camera?

I was wondering if that piece would ever sell... It was so brown it actually looked like poo. Sure has colored up in nicely in your tank!

lobsterboy 09-20-2009 07:11 PM

that pic was taken a few weeks ago, so the color has changed a bit since then, I did do a WC last night, and noticed that the polyps are turning a bit flourencent green.

lobsterboy 10-08-2009 09:43 PM

Finally some new pics.

well, today i finally was able to take some pics of the tank.

I used the eshopps coral viewer for the top downs, and the pics are taken with a canon power shot, also no actincs.

I found that the colors are most intense since i stopped dosing zeospur.

also i have stopped dosing K+ for the time being.

I also started having to stack and move some colonies as its getting pretty full in there and finding that some corals are shading each other now and causing lack of flow.

here are so pics taken a few minutes ago.

fishytime 10-09-2009 12:40 AM

John.....your breaking that 18" rule:razz:....looking really good there bud

lobsterboy 10-09-2009 03:34 AM

Thanks all for the nice words.

I am breaking that rule eh, it just keeps goin up. The closest SPS to the surface is 3inches, and the next closet is 5inches.
while the deepest SPS is on the front sandbed which is 20inches from the surface.

Here a FTS, I thought I had included one.

Call me crazy but I think you give too much credit to ZEO. I'm sure you had way more to do with this than some supplements!

freezetyle 10-21-2009 04:13 AM

Looks like you need to set a day and do a bunch of frags... you know as back up colonies... and give them all to me...

tank looks amazing as always!

Myka 10-21-2009 10:58 PM

Looking good!! I can't wait until my SPS grow big like yours. :biggrin1: Mine are midgets. It's nice to see a mature tank like yours with big colonies. I have the same green birdnest, but in my tank the polyps aren't green, they are snow white.

What kind of Gorg is that? It's perty.

Some really nice looking corals!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you been dosing Zeo Iron and PIF? I'm going to start next month...I've been watching people on the Zeo forums get some intense greens, so now it's my turn.

haha, ??????????

yeah i have been doing iron 2 drops per once a week and the greens have been much better. i think actiinc lighting would help this also.

and i do dose PIF, just increased it to 2 times a week at 4 drops per 125gal.

Myka 10-21-2009 11:52 PM

Actinic is great for cheating, but you should be able to get the same results with blue bulbs. AquaScience 22000K and Fiji Purple have been doing a good job for me. :D Although I have a third T5 that I've been thinking of putting a true actinic in...

OceanicCorals-Ian- 10-22-2009 06:13 AM

Nice

Hi John,

Great to see them in your tank and looked like they landed well. Did the Stylo fall off it's float during shipping?

The Setosa looks amazing in person doesn't it?

I'm sure they will grow wonderfully for you as it looks like your tank is in top notch shape. I've seen what Zeovit can do and it can bring out amazing colors. Great job with your tank.

I got your PM and will let you know what else is coming around the corner.

Thanks again for your business!!

Cheers,

:P

Ryan 10-22-2009 06:35 AM

Those corals look good. If you dont mind me asking what was shipping? Is this a "pack" or did you buy these seperate?

lastlight 10-22-2009 07:41 AM

That green stylo is totally killer! How many different types of SPS do you have roughly? Looks like a BUNCH.

Myka 10-22-2009 01:26 PM

That's a stylo? It looks just like my "ORA green birdnest"...hmmm...

I'm pretty jealous about the Setosa. Yep, lotsa jealous. That unknown Acro from fooser is freakin cool too!! Do the polyps come out, or do they stay inside mostly?

fishytime 10-22-2009 01:34 PM

Very nice there Johnnybye....did you end up taking the chance and dipping them?
