Nice photo dump! The Efflo lools like it's very happy. Got any growth sequence photos?

tank is doing great, lots of growth, healthy fish. Some new tangs, a chocolate tang with white fins and white on his face, sold as a chocolate hybrid. My Maori wrasse ate some new additions, ate an allens chromis as i ploped him in the tank :( took a chunk out of another...so i moved them to the 30G quickly...called the injured one chunky...

Did you add the new Chromis after lights off when all the fish were sleeping? You may have a different reaction if you do it that way. Fish tend to think that action at the water surface will involve feeding, and will gulp down new fish when they might not if they weren't already in feed-mode.

Dang, that Efflo is looking sweet. Was it a Bali Maricultured piece?

Roskoreef 09-04-2015 02:37 AM

new fishes, probably the last fish i will add as tha maori wrassein beggining to see any new additions as lunch, good thing these guys held their own so far...

for the most part I use my nikon d5500 with a cheap macro lens and use the sports setting because im to lazy to turn off the pumps everytime i see a good shot. I take lots of pictures, less than half turn out.

Roskoreef 09-14-2015 07:14 AM

Roskoreef 09-19-2015 12:40 AM

Ok so i got new bulbs for this mh fixture.... one already blew and cracked...im wondering ive done something wrong or faulty bulb. Its a maristar 2x250w mh with old huge ballast(rated for 2x250w) and 2x39w t5ho, all good for 3 days and now this afternoon only one is on, and other has big crack on bulb (hamilton 20k de 250w).

this is the frag tank before the light blew out,

http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psfgb7j6wb.jpg

Am i using the wrong ballast for bulbs?

grr, they were stupid expesive cause i was to eager to order online, anyway also picked up a small skimmer to replace my other 2...just giving it a little clean with vinegar(its used).

http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6zflkvmo.jpg

Roskoreef 09-21-2015 12:36 AM

got the BK plumbed in and starting to break it in, left my other skimmer running till the big one is ready and pulling stuff.

Roskoreef 09-23-2015 06:58 PM

Apex nearly fryed and gased my tank!

So i went to get some new tires for the gfs jeep this morning, and after i checked in and was waiting, apex fusion decided to connect again ( been a month of on and off all day, ****ty wireless and cant update unless i pull it out and bring to modem).

this is screenshot after i got home and moved all the plugs. it was heading in a bad direction..

http://i1377.photobucket.com/albums/...psa2btnysy.jpg

at about 5 am apex simply turned everything on, regardless of what the settings were, even when i got home the apex unit itself said lights off and they were all on...

co2 to my calcium reactor was just flowing away, brought ph in reactor down an extra .1 and the heaters were roaring and brought temp up..

wtf. has this happened to anybody else?

Slyguy00 09-23-2015 07:05 PM

My Apex has been doing the same thing, not quite that extent though. My ato wouldnt turn off even though all settings were right (luckily my sump holds more than my ato for just that reason), when lights off it says on, and when I try and turn them on manually it doesnt even work. Not even with the controller. It has been a little bit better since the update, but it still has issues. kinda scary to think what could happen if the apex did fail and went undetected for to long.

Roskoreef 09-23-2015 07:11 PM

ill probably issue a service ticket and see what neptune says, but im reluctant to use it at all, if they cant provide a reliable product for 1000+ dollars im gonna be ****ed, my livestock is worth too much to have a premium product kill everything...not sure what to at this point with winter coming. do i trust the temp switch on the heaters themselves, or do i trust apex. sigh..co2 feels alot more dangerous now, have to dial in the bubble count alot closer now.

Myka 09-27-2015 07:10 PM

Seems to be a lot of Apex issues on the board this year. I wonder wth?

On the other side, your tank looks fabulous and you can't go wrong with THAT new skimmer! :D

Pump and fish

Love those Angels! I hope they are reef safe because one day I would like a pair as well.

Also, how is your pump running? Quiet? No other problems?

I am asking because I will be setting up a 175 gal tank soon.

They are supposd to have a high chance of being reef safe, i dont have any more crabs because of some wrasse, so in that aspect of reef safe not sure.

Which pump are you talking about?

If you want a reef safe angel look into watanbei angels.

I had two, however one was really rough after shipping and didn't make it. I've had the other for a few months and she is a a model citizen

Roskoreef 09-28-2015 05:00 PM

I can't believe how sweet your tank looks in sub a short period of time. The difference between buying colonies and the modern habit of frags!

Post a pic of your mystery tang - I'm sure someone here can ID it!

yeah ive been insisting that i only have pumps on one end.. and adding some pretty demanding sps i need pretty heavy flow on one end while the "slow" end is better for gonis and some lps i want to keep still. I dont need 4, but i dont vacuum much dietrus off the bottom anymore lol. 3 are vertical running contant and one horozontal making waves at the top, gives a nice shimmer and the sps on top are happy. Tangs love it and the caves are clean.

Roskoreef 09-29-2015 01:03 AM

here is this "mystery" tang, its been called a night tang.. best photo i could get, just out of focus.
