The second Candy Basslet is now sold. He is on hold for someone. Now there is only the $3500 Gem Tangs avaiable. Look nice but would never have guessed the Gems value. Maybe its all in a name.

In the scheme of things thats not even expensive in the pet industry.
Rare Arowanas will go for way more, certain species of parrots cost way more.
Pedigreed show dogs can go for more than that. People that want the rare, different or collectible will always be willing to pay the price.

But birds and dogs don't just up and die the way pricey fish do ...
I think the last time I heard of someone spending this kind of money on something the size of a thumb drive was, well, when they bought a thumb drive way back in the day ... and it was probably only 256k

good choice

Oh well,,
good for you for appreciating a rare gem like this..
good luck with it...
Mines just starting to venture out,,, seems a little braver when it's dark out..
perhaps they can have play dates some day :) ha ha

Oh I don't know about that, some birds are exceptionally hard to keep, and some are so sensitive they'll drop dead at the slightest fright.
Not to mention most species are on the cites list to various degrees so you need import permits, export permits, vet checks before and after entering the country, QT for 30 days etc, etc. Costs certainly add up when all is said and done.

Most expensive fish I have ever seen was a fresh water fish from the Amazon I can’t remember the name of it but I definitely remember the price tag it was bought for $8900

Personally I can’t see spending more than a hundred bucks on a fish but each to their own
