My heart goes out to you, tough times, me and my wife travel quite a bit as well and I couldn't imagine come back to the chaos and loss of the dogs, our dog just slipped a disk in his back and now we are in the same ball park as you looking ahead with a chance of not having what feels like a family member , hope you guys can pull together and it make you stronger and not tears stuff apart
In times like this I find it's not good to make big decisions as I'm not sure if we are mentally prepared to , our minds are elsewhere , even tho you say you have lost the passion what's to say that just leaving it as is maybe a shut down but not a sell off. That passion you once had could be the spark needed to pick up the pieces and get moving again . I've followed this thread from the start ( creepy and silently mostly lol ) but it would be so sad on top of everything to see all that hard work planning and passion "in the trash". I would say give yourself some time to heal and think before making a huge descison , even shut it down for some time. All the ground work is done on it .

Hoping you guys all the best

And I guess all in all give yourself time to think and trust your gut

Cheers
Craig

I have had 8 months to think this over and have decided that it is time to shut it down. Wife & I have been talking about getting a 120 gal to move what is left from this tank into and see how it goes from there.

I appreciate all the kind words from everyone.

Yeah, thats the way, keeping your finger in the pie.
Hard to quit cold turkey

Have to see how long it will last but one will see. Was hopeing to get this thread to 50,000 views before the tank was down

Well the dismantling has begun, worked on it most of the day to get everything cleaned out of the cabinets, pulling out some of the goodies running it and removing the tank canopy. Kinda sad I am doing this but it must be.

So sorry for your losses Greg!! Hopefully things are moving in a positive direction as your healing continues.

For very different reasons, I shut down too, was a hard decision, lots of tears. I was going to hold everything and see about a restart later, but most of my stuff is gone now. At times I kick around starting again, who knows. Whatever your path, you will know what's right and best for you and your family. Big hugs friend!

Literally the only downside to owning animals is their inherent shorter life spans.

Sounds like those were some very well looked after, much loved dogs.
