the rear prickles huh?

oh sure, he goes on the offence when I point out his frag on the sand:razz:.....I dont know what it is about this particular urchin......no other urchin I have ever owned has been as bad as this guy....this is also the same urchin that was wearing my Aussie scoly as a sombrero.......I probably will try and pawn this one off on some poor un-suspecting sucker.....er um I mean re-home him:mrgreen:

fishoholic 12-07-2011 04:34 AM

I think the urchin's just don't like you. Since you put your scolly hat wearing urchin in my tank he's behaved himself fairly well......other then the one time he tried to walk off with my korallia......however that was more funny then problematic, well it was it bit problematic for him but not so much for me

fishytime 12-09-2011 04:30 AM

you wanna see some growth?.....not the kind you need to see a doctor about.....and not the kind that requires a X rating.......coral kinda growth:mrgreen:

Really nice man!

I can't seem to capture the blue very well in my digi. It's high up and no matter what I do the light washes the blue right out. If I seriously under-expose the shot I can see the blue but then it's so dim it looks like I'm running LEDs so I dunno.

nice shot at LED mang:lol:........well if you notice, the only shot that really showed the blue/purple well was the top down.......have you tried that?.... I have a bit of a cheat tho.....my camera was underwater, about 3" away from the coral:wink:

I do relish a lovely bird......I'll call this post " the many colors of birds medley"

Delphinus 12-12-2011 06:35 AM

If I could get my tank to look maybe 10% as nice as this, I'd ... I'd ... well, I'd probably entertain thoughts like "if this tank doesn't turn around in the next 2-3 months I'm quitting the hobby" not nearly as often.

That first one is barely recognizable as a birdsnest, that's some shaggy polyp extension..

reefermadness 12-12-2011 12:31 PM

Everything looks real good...man you do love your birds I see.

That is probably the best picture Ive ever seen of a supman digi. Everybody always talks about them but your probably the first person Ive seen with one that actually has a nice blue base and red polyps.

whats not to like about birds?......I love the growth pattern they have....they grow fast and do well under a wide variety of conditions and thus are great for the ego:biggrin:

thanks mang.....I love that scoly.....even though having it makes me nervous......most moulah Ive ever spent on a coral......Im always worried that something is gonna fall on it or eat it or something......

you werent sposed to notice my hairy pits:redface:.........the scoly is in the small tank that has no angels or tangs......and because of this, the algae runs rampant.....I literally prune out a couple handfuls every time I do a w/c.....once I move the contents (corals, fish and critters) up to E-town, Im going to rotate one rock at a time into the big tank and have the tangs and angels shave it down.......hopefully

lastlight 12-14-2011 02:39 PM

I've honestly never really read about angels since I figured I'd never have any. Didn't know they were big algae eaters.

So which of your fish would eat that? Looks to be hair and maybe bryopsis?

Delphinus 12-14-2011 03:03 PM

My tangs and angels sure won't touch that stuff.

ya ya......angels are big algae eaters......they constantly pick......unfortunately, at more than algae sometimes:neutral:....

it does kinda look like hair algae, but it is some kind of calerpra, similar to "feather"........my yellow tang and chevron pick at it ....there is some growing in the big tank, in the eggcrate overflow strainer, where it is hard for the tangs to reach......i see them up there from time to time trying to get to it......

more act shots

Precious hopes when it grows up it can look fabulously bulbous just like his daddy.

lastlight 12-16-2011 05:24 AM

Your pics are nice bro but don't do some of those colours any justice... granulosa especially! Think it's mostly a white-balance thing. Thanks again for the tank tours.

ALang 12-16-2011 04:15 PM

Can't wait for you to get up here to Edmonton and set up!!
Would love to see your corals in person!

Tank Party at Doug and Laurie's after you've settled down? We'll bring BEER!!
And NOT the Apricotty kind, either!
