Thank you

Brad, thank you for your hospitality and it was great to see the familiar faces the and also meeting some new ones at the frag swap. I wish I had brought more money as there were many nice frags at the meet. Brad, your tank is amazing as always! Sorry for drooling all over your floor...

Thank you to Shelley, Christy, Ronnie, Brad and Dan for all the nice frags! I will surely be busy tonight!

Rich, it was great meeting you the next time I am coming over to the Mainland I will certainly pm you as I would love to see your tank as well!

Nooooo, no more room :P Between the incredible pieces I got from Tim T, Shelley and Christy, I have no idea where I'd put it. I guess the frag tank, if you really want to give it to me :)
Sorry, didn't' get to talk to you much, Rich and Chris were trying to empty my tank -lol
All around good time today, thanks everyone for coming out, we'll have to do it again!

Cade 04-15-2012 01:39 AM

Thank you everyone, Especially to Brad and his wife Christy for hosting and supplying my wife with all the "healthy" chocolate she could eat.

Brad your tank... omg.. omg..

I got some amazing frags and probably doubled the amount of rare and beautiful SPS in my tank.

Great to meet/see everyone.

See you next time!!

:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Borderjumper 04-15-2012 01:55 AM

Thank you Brad, Christy and little E for inviting us into your home. Lots of nice coral and a table full of munchies. What a nice way to spend a Saturday!

christyf5 04-15-2012 02:40 AM

Thanks guys! I had a great time! Got rid of all my stuff and would you look at that, came home with more (no idea what though ).

Thanks Christy for the chocolate fix! I am good for another few months and will be adding that chickpea brownie recipe to my repertoire (who needs choco chip cookies when you have those?!?)

When's the next one?

We can do another one here over the summer sometime.

Aquattro 04-15-2012 03:04 AM

While Tim was unable to make it over, he did send me the frags I wanted. I left them bagged in the sump until everyone left. Once I added them to the tank, I'm super impressed. Especially the pink and blue milli....just an amazing piece. Thanks Tim!

P.S. Nobody collected money for you, so we'll need to arrange payment...

Thanks Brad and family for having us invade your home. Thanks to all my fellow reefers as well for making the huge efforts to make it to the swap and to bring such an amazing assortment of goodies for us to drool over.

Probably the best one I've ever attended for the number of ppl attending and the huge number of frag available. Everything is settling in nicely - and Shelley, the 6 line just ate like a pig so all is good with him:)

thanks everyone. I'm in for next time.

FragIt Dan 04-15-2012 03:28 AM

Great to meet everyone and many thanks to Brad and Christy for hosting. It was my first frag swap and a great intro. Already thinking of planning one for Nanaimo :). Hope everyone enjoys their frags... looking forward to seeing pics,
Dan

christyf5 04-15-2012 03:42 AM

Just got everyone acclimated and in the tanks. I can't believe it, this is the first swap I've returned from and not had to add a frag rack to the tank! I'm down to 2 frag racks instead of 3 as well! Score!! (yes, one day I'll get them all mounted but that day is not today )

:mrgreen::mrgreen:

lol yeah some of them were kind of big. The blue tipped slimer has green polyps, the main body greenish and then blue tips. And it gets super slimy if you touch it (and sometimes during water changes).

Thanks again for the zoo frags! They're pretty big too! All are out and happy in my nano

Duker 04-15-2012 08:01 PM

And Brad WOW like I texted u, I am so lovin the lemonaide, I wasn't excepting u to cut it just yet- thanks to Chris and Rich from Van getting u all scissor happy. ;0) LOL. I just can't keep my eyes off those two pieces (just incase they start growing before my eyes) now for things other than my blueberry, green slimer and purpley/blue/green acro to grow.......oh come on, grow big like the others.
Cheers Ronnie

It was a pleasure to finally put faces to the names also a big thanks to Brad and Christy for putting up they're place for us to hold the frag swap and meet. I had a fun day and spent a few hrs unbagging corals when we got home.

It was a fun event and I am thinking of organizing a frag swap on the mainland mid summer....

Garam masala at most stores in the ethnic section. Tandoori masala is harder to find around here so we make our own. I'll get her to send it on FB...

Guys, Thanks! I'm sure you all can do much better... You're just being nice to me. Don't know if I can really pass any good camera tips but I may be able to talk to a good friend of mine to give us all a demo. He is a professional photographer and he also freelances with the local papers in town. Some of his acheivements includes a nice UFC photo spread in the Sports Illustrated and he was also hired as one of the photo managers during the winter Olympics in Vancouver. I don't think I can post his name on the forum, right? But I'll talk to him later this week and see if he can teach us a few lessons.

Rich, I am really thinking about getting a Canon Mark III body. I was at a local camera shop playing with one... problem: how can I justify spending $4 grand on a camera ( and that is just body alone!). I am currently using a Canon 60D and Lens and Shutter is currently selling the body for $899. I'd recommend you try both Canon and Nikon, they both have lots of different lens options and the resale value are very good.

He he he this thread is quickly turning into a recipe sharing thread....lol
Any who, yes i did bring the salsa- glad you all liked it.
its super easy...

Mango Salsa
2 mangos, peeled, cut up
8ish roma tomatoes (depending on how much salsa you are making, big batch more tomatoes, small batch less-you don't want the tomatoes to over power the 2 large mangos)
1 large red onion chopped up
1 jalapeno (seeds in or out-you decide how hot, the batch i brought, i put half the seed in)
BIG handful of cilantro, chopped
lime juice of one lime (lean into it and roll it on the counter to loosen juices)
Pinch of salt

chips, scoop, Yummmm!

PS. its super yummy on BBQ'd salmon, there's something about the smoke from the grill and the sweetness of the mango that works so well together.

And Christy what about your yummy spinach and crab dip????

well lets face it, if theres one thing we do right its stand around a fish tank stuffing our faces as we admire it. We only stop eating long enough to stake a claim to frags we want with a loud "MINE" (and its a talented person that can do that with a mouthful of food while not showering the glass with it ).

No crab in that dip, its on the back of the knorr vegetable soup package

2c sour cream
1c mayo
1pkg knorr vegetable soup (NOT the cream one)
1pkg frozen chopped spinach
optional 1c chopped waterchestnuts
optional 3 green onions chopped
