I don't see any sign of bugs there. At that close, they would be fairly noticeable.

Bblinks 10-10-2012 05:27 PM

Me either...

Thanks! The lights are at 90% right now and will be at 100% this weekend. I upgraded the lens not long ago and before the upgrading the lens the radions were at 100%.

chris88 10-10-2012 09:27 PM

Awesome i am running my radion with the tir lense at about 85% peak 4 hrs a day. the rest of the time is ramping up and down.

How are you liking the radions?

Whew... I was worried for a while... Brad and Rich, thanks for reviewing the pic for me... I've never dealt with red bugs before so I am reliant on your knowledge and experience on this. I've always dip all my corals before they enter the tank. Much appreciated!

I currently have them at 90% for 8 hrs a day but I had also ran them for 4 hrs at start with the intensity at 50% ( i think...) and slowly increased the duration along with the intensity.

I like them but I had problems with one not long ago...

Dipping is not really a 100% guarantee. Best to inspect visually with a magnifying glass, they're pretty easy to see. I use a microscope on all new frags. That said, red bugs are one of the easiest things to get rid of. AEFW are the nasties to avoid!!

Snappy 10-10-2012 10:01 PM

Looking sweet there Wayne. I also don't see any red bugs.

riceboy 10-10-2012 11:09 PM

LOL sorry for the scare i just saw a couple of spots on the coral and was wondering if that was it lol

Greg, thanks! there are lots of CM frags in here and are starting to grow! Sure, some are slow growers but definitely worth the wait!

No worries, I'd rather have someone pointing it out then not to... We're all here to learn, share and help each other, right?

Mid Nov 2012 update - minor

Not too much to update... Currently struggling with cyano... Trying my best to contain it the best I can. never really had it before and I don't over feed my fish and it could be the result of the following... Bio pellets and me stopped dosing vinegar.

The positive are that the corals are growing and coloring up...
Sharing some top down frag pics...

http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...8-N98A1921.jpg
The blue one is becoming my favorite. Too bad it is not mine ( holding for jaws along with four others). It may as well be mine as it has been in the tank for over four months now.:twised: this one came from Snappy!
The one on the bottom left of the blue acro is a Chilliwack SSC ( I say that cause that is where I bought it)

http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...8-N98A1924.jpg
A frag I picked up from Kelly 5 mths ago...

http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...8-N98A1926.jpg
Another favorite... From Snappy... 15 months of patience!

http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...8-N98A1928.jpg
Also from Snappy...

http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...8-N98A1932.jpg
Another favorite but from a local reefer (thanks, Ronnie!)

http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...8-N98A1934.jpg
This is suppose to be a SSC ( the little pink sliver..) from a LFS... Been in the tank for 17 mths doing nothing (was grey and dead looking) and I was about to turf it... Then all of the sudden it started to colour up... ? Go figure...

http://i406.photobucket.com/albums/p...8-N98A1920.jpg
The top three frags on the left with potential... Also from Snappy... Purple poison SC ( finally starting to colour up), Something blue granulosa and ice cream dream... Been in the tank 5 mths, 8 mths and 8 mths, respectively.

lastlight 11-20-2012 07:30 AM

that last one from Greg is really looking nice I dig it! It's crazy how long you have to wait for some sleeper pieces to finally wake up.

Bblinks 11-20-2012 06:08 PM

Wayne, that purple poison sure is coloring up nicely. love the pics bud.

Hope to have an update in 6 months on this frag. Can't understand why the nicer pieces are taking so long for me... Guess I should complain.

Rich, thanks. It doesnt look anything close like Snappy's yet... You have one if these too, right? How is yours doing?

Few new topdown with the 180mm Macro

Was bored last night so I tried taking some top down macro pics with the 180mm Macro. Please excuse some of the pics blurriness as I did not use a tripod (a heavy lens and camera doesn't help either) and the pics were taken last night so more on the blue side.

Greg, thanks! They could be better but I took them later in the evening so the pics turned out more on the blue side. Pic 7 is a Snappy Purple Poison SC. The tip got stung a month ago and glad it did not die as it is starting to show some colours. It was a grey/pinky coral for a while.

Rice Reef 11-30-2012 09:58 PM

Tank maintenance update

Been fighting cyano the last month... I think it is b/c of the bio pellets or b/c I stopped dosing vinegar. Tried using chemiclean and it only upset the cyano as it came back with a vengeance. I am now using Zeozym, biomate, MB7 and Coral Snow. It seems to be working but has only been four days...

What are the ones in pics 11, 12 and 21? I think I remember one of them being called a hollywood stunner or something. But they are beautiful with the blue and greens.
