Oh if you have a canopy and the end is somewhat open to that fan intake you're fine. I thought you had pendant/open top plans.

This is looking really good Bob.

Im going to start the rock(base) work right away, hope to have it done in the next little bit. Then I can seed it with the 150 lbs I have left in the back room. Its amazing to see how many sponges have started to grow when there is nothing around to eat them. At any rate, hope I can speed things up a bit, as I find myself becoming impatient as well. As nice as it was not to look after anything besides my kids all summer, I sure miss not having a functional tank. |
I'd be Jones- n too ..... It's looking really good tho mang!

Looking good man, love that rock overflow you built. Was that just base rock and some kind of cement mix in between them?
I wanna new tank! |

As for the new tank, can't help you with that one. |
Well a few things to update. Mike was kind enough to stop by and wire in the panel for me. Thanks Mike, I owe you.
http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/t...9/IMG_2059.jpg I was in Calgary last week and managed to talk to Brad about a sump, so that's been ordered. While I was in cowtown I picked up a new light. Well new to me. It's a 6' solaris I5 and is in really good shape, I figure I will use this until I get my lighting figured out. It's LED old school(Brett, if you read this, this still gives me the option to join LWL by the way). Im actually quite surprised of how bright this thing actually is, and the programming(which is basic), is really nice as well. http://i617.photobucket.com/albums/t...9/IMG_2057.jpg |

Skimmer modifications.
Well I've heard a few good stories about these. Thought I'd give it a try. Time will tell, I hope to have a sump here soon, as soon as it's here, piping with commence.

If you were not so cheap and bought a real skimmer you would not need this option.

you'll love the cleaner. I have a swabbie on my BK. although it has really made me lazy. i pretty much just look at the skimmer to empty the cup and maybe once a month wipe off the neck cleaner. Love your build so far!
|
Great looking build :) Love the welding in the house too...wish i could get away with that
|
Is that the aquadriver version you have?
I know the swabbies are the cheapest route but I recall reading a few stories about their performance and fit that cast a few doubts? |

It's a swabbie, I origionally wanted the new top, but they couldn't promise that it would work considering the clearances. So they sent a retrufit, and in hind sight, Im glad they did. Although I had to drill a hole in the lid myself, but it wasn't that bad. Good looking skimmer though, I must say. (Sorry Brett, couldn't help myself) |
Hey Dave, How's the progress on that sump? Do you know offhand?
