Delphinus 04-03-2012 02:49 AM

Very nifty!

fishoholic 04-03-2012 02:59 AM

Thanks guys I hadn't heard of this type of wrasse until I looked up leopard wrasse on liveaquaria and kuiteri wrasse showed up. Then AI got them in and needless to say I'm glad I got him

When I first came home after work he was hiding. However when I got home (after going out for dinner) I was very happy to see him out in the open. The yellow tang gave him a bit of a hard time when I fed the tank, but on the plus side he did eat some mysis

No rich boyfriend needed, just a well off Mom who loaned me some money then told me not to worry about paying her back  (let's hope she doesn't read that )

The clam was from Steve at red coral and unfortunately I make less a month (working only Saturdays) then the $200 clam

 Ya right I wish! Unfortunately sunshine girls don't get paid it's strictly volunteer and in my case (back in the day) I got volunteered for it. Originally a friend of mine was supposed to go but she called me saying she was sick (pretty sure she just chickened out) and begged me to take her place.

I still would like to work for AI though. They seem to have the best selection in town. If they don't pay me enough, I will just use my "two-finger" employee discount :twised:

Pretty sure that's frowned upon.

These maximas are amazing and, BTW Laurie, yours is spectacular. I was waiting for this shipment a long time myself. Snagged one myself, I'm quite fond of it, even though it put me in the doghouse for a bit on account of cost. (I should get a picture up soon I guess.) But it was nice to be able to actually participate in a shipment for a change, for a guy like me who's chained to a desk all day and then chasing after little kids for the evenings and weekends, by the time I get to the stores, everything is picked clean and all that's left is whatever everyone else didn't want. Also noteworthy to consider IMO, the price isn't that hugely different than the Cook Island clams from a few months ago but whereas those were 1" in size, these are 6" and up. The value is incomparable.

At any rate - very nice new clams there. How many are you up to now? I think I'm up to 9. A far cry from the 14 I had at one point - but slowly climbing back up there!! I'm such a sucker for tridacnids..

Tony, was it that spawning event that caused the loss of your clams or something else? I can't remember.
Laurie. Nice score! Beautiful clams.

fishoholic 04-30-2012 11:10 PM

Thanks Tony and Lance. I'm up to a whole whopping two clams now  I had one a long time ago that I sold cause my CBB developed a taste for it and one awhile ago that decided to commit suicide while I was in Calgary for a weekend, came home and found it upside down in the sand

fishytime 05-01-2012 12:47 AM

He's still got one I do believe. I had a hard time walking away from it even knowing it wouldn't be happy in my 5 month old tank.

what???...I had this one clam that was beautiful through the glass but I couldnt get a decent pic of it to save my life....sometimes lighting conditions and how your clam is positioned can make a huge difference to how it photographs....

Laurie. Nice score! Beautiful clams.

It might have been, hard to say. The last spawning event the clam did perish shortly after and that seemed to kick off a chain reaction that lasted a few months but they would basically let go one by one.

Finally got an ok pic of my red fuzzy dwarf lionfish. He was so fat when I got him he looked like he swallowed a golf ball, so I call him Rolly Polly. He hid for the first week I had him but now he's starting to go out in the open a bit more.

So working at AI has been fun and I also managed to get these beauties

Tiara anthia (had been in QT for 3 weeks and is eating well ) brought him home today and thought for sure he'd go hide and stay hidden in my 80g for awhile but to my surprise he went to the back of the tank for a minute and has been out in the open since I added him

http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/DSC_0464.jpg

http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/DSC_0472.jpg
