hey Levi you us have much light over your mangroves I have 10 of them and it seems that some of them are like dehydrating sucking in or shrinking i have a 100w food light about 2 feet from them or should I take that off.

Hahaha, no worries man. It just figures that the really nice ones would go and do something like that.

Everything is looking awesome man.
Funny how that works, thanks for the compliment buddy!

I would pull it right back, almost sounds like your burning them. I have 4 24W T5's about 2 feet away from the tips of them, they get a whack load of ambient light though (From the sun and my other T5 fixtures). My brother has a 250W halide + Actinics over his 100 but it's almost 4 feet away from them and he gets some wicked growth.

I think he is winning in growth, GAHHH I CANT WIN!!!

Zoaelite 10-14-2010 03:38 AM

Oh and Mike spraying them down daily with fresh RO water really seems to help them out.

kien 10-14-2010 04:20 AM

Wow quite the grow op you guys got going there :). Wish I had the room for some mangroves.. But no, I had to go and install another tank.

Brilliant!! I did't really need a dining room table anyway.

Standard dining room tables are overrated. However, dining room tables with a centrepiece of mangroves and a plant grow light instead of a chandelier is, on the other hand, completely underrated and understated.

Thanks Doug! I'm thinking of buying a new camera (Something like Kiens) if I can save up enough cash, then I can really put out some top quality photos.

Zoaelite 10-25-2010 12:13 AM

Sold off a large portion of my SPS (To little time and the tank is a little too mixed for my liking). Pretty happy with the result, I stuck the remaining stuff into a small center island that came out pretty wicked, happy with how it looks so I'm going to let it grow in.

Still lots of space to fill in, anyone that wants a free formosa frag shoot me a PM, I have TONS of them. Wouldn't mind some trades for them but everyone starts somewhere.

Some new photos:

Wow absolutely stunning this tank is...
are you still planning on filling up the new space with chalices?.. that would be sweet because you still would have alot of swimming room for the fish.
..Wish i could sleep next to my tank < if that's a bed i see?

Thanks, Ya slowly it should all be filled in. Its all about finding the right chalices now. Yes the tank is right next to the bed, it's a little noisy but you learn to live with it pretty fast.

chris88 10-25-2010 02:00 AM

Those are some big challices. I only have one and it hates high light.

Madreefer 10-25-2010 02:26 AM

Really nice! Cool aquascape.

Zoaelite 10-26-2010 05:10 AM

Okay, this should be the final rearrange of the rock as I'm pretty happy with it now (Until it crashes and explodes 170g of water onto me while I'm sleeping ).

Quick shots with the actinics:

Was lucky enough to come across a wicked priced ATI Bubblemaster 250 (Thanks to Mike), so here is the beast in action. So far VERY happy with how it's been working!

lorenz0 11-01-2010 03:12 AM

that last shot is awesome.

Lance 11-01-2010 03:40 AM

I like all three of them.

Zoaelite 11-01-2010 02:16 PM

Its funny how they turned out, that's with all 8 of my t5's on at around 6:00pm.

Skimmerking 11-01-2010 05:50 PM

yup by far next to the deltec 851 that BM 250 skimmer was amazing and by far in the top 3 skimmers.

the sucess of that skimmer was the huge neck. for some great wet gunk.

well done on the skimmer:biggrin:

Zoaelite 11-01-2010 05:57 PM

My hands are to large for the neck on my Hydor so it was a pain in the but to clean (Or take it off for that matter). After seeing this thing in action I'm actually starting to wonder if my Hydor was actually making a dent!

I think I made a deal with the Devil though, my first born Red Planet frag goes to Mike free of charge . Well worth it considering the deal he gave me, $250.00 VERY well spent.

therealshark 11-01-2010 06:38 PM

glad you are happy with the skimmer, always worked awesome for me. after a week or 2 the skimate should start to get real dark.
lookin forward to the frag tho.

Thanks Mike, I still have like 10 formosa frags sitting in the frag tank you free friday right after I get home from school (Around 8 or so?).

I should be finished mid terms around the 13th then anyone that wants one is free to come grab one (Unless I get lazy and take them to the LFS ), have tones of cheato also.

Would you hurry up and get me photos of your new fancy purchases? You managed to get 4 things I have never seen in Canada within like a month of setting up the tank, that's it I'm going to live in Cali...

Doug 11-03-2010 11:46 PM
