Great growth, I'm either gonna have to send you a few of my frags to grow out in your tank, or am going to have to sell all my equipment and copy what you are using. I am always amazed at the growth you get in your tank.

Chaloupa 04-20-2009 05:03 AM

OMG Marie..that Superman is amazing.....I see my name written all over a frag!!! LOL:lol:

hillegom 04-20-2009 05:50 AM

Thats an amazing tank Marie!! I hope to learn more by reading your updates.
Thanks

2 new frags to add to my collection, a montipora setosa and the pearlberry acro from Oceanic corals. The Monti gives the word tiny a whole new meaning (and I thought the superman digi was small  ) but if it grows like everything else in my tank I'll have problems giving it away by the end of the year

That pearlberry looks cool, and I don't for an instant believe you will have trouble finding homes for excess growth, you have some stunning pieces!

PoonTang 04-29-2009 02:34 AM

That Pearlberry looks like it could use a good fragging already. Can I bring over my clippers on the 10th????. Your sandbed is a little cluttered too, can i clean it up too? :)

No clippers but your welcome to come and clean the sandbed... (note to self, make sure all the corals I want to keep are up on the rocks by the 10th)

marie 04-30-2009 03:43 AM

I refilled my calcium reactor tonight, that's 5lbs of calcium reactor media in 3 weeks and 5 days beating my old record of 5lbs in 4 1/2 weeks...I wonder how much live rock I have in my tank now
I've also cleaned up the sand bed so the fish can swim around again

I have a hard time getting a good pic of this coral, I bought it from JL last year as a brown coral with potential, it didn't fair well in my tank for months and I thought I was going to lose it...It's fine now

I always think of reef tanks as works of art. Your tank is absolutely stunning!

christyf5 04-30-2009 03:11 PM

Rbacchiega 04-30-2009 03:39 PM

marie 05-02-2009 11:12 PM

I went over to Dave's today to see his new shipment of bali's...just to look, I don't really have room for anything the size of a bali aquaculture.

So here is my new coral
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ril2909029.jpg

There is one there, it's right behind the stupid fish

christyf5 05-02-2009 11:15 PM

Mrfish55 05-03-2009 09:14 AM

I wish I had a copperband that nice to stick his face in my pics, enjoy the new coral, looking forward to watching it grow at the speed of sound.

I was asked a while back to post a pic of my quarantine tank...not that there is much to look at but here it is
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ishroom005.jpg

and because some people have an unnatural obsession with sumps, plumbing and such, here are a couple more pics of my fish room

I was going to sell all my tunze streams to pay for the new pumps but the 2 in the middle add a little extra umph with the vortechs...I guess the next dog I groom will be charged a little extra...Lance, does Molly want a $300 beagle bath?

Here's a pic of my pearlberry acro frag. It's decided it really likes my tank and is now taking off...there should be lots of cootie covered frags available by christmas

Marie, for $300 you'd have to keep her.
So, how do you like the Vortechs? I'm thinking of getting some for the new tank.

They are wonderful...definitely worth getting.

fishytime 06-04-2009 02:52 AM

Have you had a chance to play with the different modes yet, or do you just have them going full blast?

p.s. watch out for tip burn...I found out the hard way:redface::lol:

fencer 06-04-2009 02:55 AM

Marie
Does that Copperband every pick at your SPS?

If he does I wouldn't notice because picking at sps is already my regal angels favourite occupation...the sps have learned to live with it

I've just started playing with them, at the moment I have them on reef crest, in sync...I haven't been able to form a wave yet but I didn't really want a wave anyway

Mrfish55 06-04-2009 03:58 AM

I take it the other one is working OK now? the one you brought back has been running non stop so far, go figure! I think I may need to add a few more and loose the wavebox as the Vortech look so much better.

Lance 06-04-2009 04:10 AM

What size Vortechs did you get Marie? 20's or 40's?

I bought the 40's. I now have nearly 12,000gph of water moving around my tank when the pumps are on full speed

68x turnover. Wow! I'll have about the same flow but at 60x turnover.

Lance 06-04-2009 04:39 AM

I've got quite a few LPS in that tank; I hope they can handle it.

Snappy 06-04-2009 05:39 AM

The tank looks great Marie.

The vortechs have so much more to play with then the wave box

I've decided I like the long pulse, with the slave in sync. It's amazing how much crap gets picked up when they're going full blast and then the tunzes take over and blow the crap to the overflows when the vortechs are in down mode.

Thanks Greg, it's in no small part to you that it's looking so colourful

Meet mr. and mrs. (I hope) Potter

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...potters001.jpg

This is the last time I will try potters angels but so far it's going well. Both are eating and seem to be getting along all right. I doubt I can keep them in the quarantine tank for long though...cramped quarters would stress even the best relationship

PoonTang 06-10-2009 12:09 AM

Wow, beautiful fish. Huge beautiful coral colony too for just a QT tank. ;)
