I was just looking through this thread last yesterday wondering about an update. Glad to see the tanks still looking great
|
oh and my ph does the same thing as yours. Im not really sure how accurate my ph probe is, its about 2 years old haha
|
DCDN the corals are reacting much better than they did under my MHs imo, i just have to fix the alk/ca swings before they'll color back up again but thats only a matter of time
Lee im not sure whats going on with my pH, ive tried about everything and the result is the same. Though just like yours my pH probe is 2 yrs old and would probably benefit from the change. Its just a little crazy that i am getting a swing from 8.2 during the day to 7.5 at night...too much corals not enough O2 |
a fun little update for everyone here. Ive been playing with the idea of adding a sump to my system for a while now and i think now might be a good time to do it as i have time to kill before school starts up again.... So im sure majority of you know about the mame glass overflows, welllllll to cut to the chase i'll be making one out of acrylic tubing. Ive got majority of it made already and i think it'll turn out great, all thats left now is to add the auto priming venturi on the overflow and im good to go for testing. meanwhile im a little lazy right now to post everything but ill do one picture and everything else will be in my blog below take a look, if you like it feel free to follow.

finished! after about 3 days and 8 hours roughly worth of time invested the overflow has finished. The full list of equipment used was
electric drill with 1/4" bit heatgun saw methyln chloride dremel the result: http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...y/IMG_5577.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...y/IMG_5584.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...y/IMG_5582.jpg now i just need to find out how to cut these damn vinyl tubing straight so it doesnt look so messed up...funny that out of everything i did i cant do one of the simpliest |
Nice work. I think it is humanly impossible to cut vinyl tubing square because it compresses as you cut it as well as the difference between inside and outside circumference of the coil. Maybe put a dowel in it to straighten it out to cut it.

try some pvc cutters (used to cut flex pvc/spa flex) or a band saw.
|
awesome suggestions guys i'll give that a go once i get some time

I just noticed that I've updated my thread on every other site but canreef and this is my local forum too...wow. alright to bring everyone up to speed. I have a new system lol....for those who have followed the nano-reef or reefcentral forums you guys know the update. I'll take a few more FTS in the near future and post it. Meanwhile I was working on a little project over the weekend, and hope you guys will enjoy it.

heres a FTS for those that are wondering what in the world happened to the tank:) I've been busy with a new business startup lately so there's just too many things to handle. Tank is still running though! and growing fast.

Theres also another problem with a bigger cup for the MCE500/600 skimmers. You essentially will lose the ability to adjust the height of the cup if you go out of the allotted space. |
Utilizing the last bit of the long weekend of finish up something Ive been wanting to do for a LONG time. Simply put wire management. I've been putting it off from day 1 of the tank build and should have done it from the get go... So 2 hours of work, and a little bit of cleaning up, its finally done.
The start http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8341/8...e7531706b0.jpg Need of some Wire Management by ECSuyu, on Flickr The end http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8338/8...68410c94ac.jpg Cleaned up Wires by ECSuyu, on Flickr Also here is something I found pretty interesting. A photo I had from Nov.1,2011 and a photo of it today. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...y/_MG_7870.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8346/8...d6b86337_c.jpg FTS (Nov. 12 , 2012) by ECSuyu, on Flickr |
I was talking to a few people locally and they had thought I got out of the hobby since I didn't post anything for a long time. So I thought why not do an update here to let everyone know that I'm still around, just posting less as I've got less time to spend around my tank as well. But that's not to say its doing bad.
I've just recently moved my tank to a more open location in the house, gets more natural sunlight as well which I personally think benefits the tank a bit. The lights has been changed over to the radion Gen2 and so far everything is doing good. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8530/8...6f8410e624.jpg FTS (April,6,2013) by ECSuyu, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8114/8...36a9713e1e.jpg FTS (April,6,2013) by ECSuyu, on Flickr |
