Why not just skip the SCWD and build a controller to alternate the each pump cycle.

Less to go wrong with the SCWD then going though all the trouble to build a controller and it not work right. Plus the DC pump ramp up slower then most pumps as you know.

I guess it comes down to mechanical vs electrical. Typically I would agree on the mechanical being much more reliable as is with most things but I'd think those SWCDs will cause more issues once they start developing build up. but probably easy to pull them later if that happens.

Have you bought the pumps yet? The new ones have built in 0-10V ability, but aren't out yet. Pretty sure building a controller for the old ones wouldn't be all that difficult either. I've been waiting for someone else to do it so I can copy them, hence my suggestion :wink: In terms of reliability can't see much going wrong, never had issues with controllable DC pumps like Tunze before, at least not relating to the controller portion of it.

Although you have tons of room, why did you decide to go with the internal overflow over an external one ?

Sorry Steve not going to happen so you will have to find someone else to do your dirty work for you . I wass going to go with 2 OM 4way on 2 pump but the one I bought used last yr doesn't work, mag drive is FUBAR!!


Dont want to try and notch out 3/4 glass for and external, I don"t mind internal OF boxes.

One more mention of a *^&%$*% closed loop I will close this build thread and no one will get to see the end result. :twised:

Thanks Dougster. The 60 gal cube will be added to the right hand side of the tower stand & the 30 gal might go one the left hand tower or under the 60 gal as a frag tank.
