I run 2 x 7" socks and have to change them about every 4-5 days. I bought 10 socks so I only run a laundry load about once every couple weeks or more. Just use bleach and do a double rinse. Never had an issue as bleach will flash off quite quickly even under household lighting. I like to turn them inside out before cleaning because I can usually shake out a couple dozen pods which I throw back into the system as a nice treat.

I've been scrubbing and trimming algae off my new rock often and these socks clog fast with algae in the water. |
I will run mine for around a week. I tend to forget a lot.
I run them through the washer 2 at a time (I set it to low water line) and wash with warm water and bleach. Once washed they soak in RO/Di with prime for a bit. |
Ok I bought myself some clorox for my socks!
I'm going to run 100-100-300 (or whatever my others happen to be) and clean the 100 that's not in use and cycle them this way. Can someone please tell me what strength to mix the soaking solution at? And can the mix be re-used like vinegar for soaking powerheads? |
I use a capful of bleach in a litre of water. Soak for 24 to 48 hrs. Then hot water rinse throughly.

When I'm cleaning two socks I use a couple of glugs :)
Highly scientific. Bleach is bleach. Too much won't hurt (other than a waste of bleach). Too little may not clean as well. |
I have the sock in an ice-cream bucket with about two inches of water just to submerge the sock and a single scientific glug. I'd say it's a potent soak =)

Does any one have a good idea how to wash dirty filter socks, especially for 100micron ones

I'm soaking one of my 100 micron at a time now. Just enough water to submerge the sock in a pail and a few caps of bleach. 2 days later I rinse it well and soak in water for one day before air drying. They are like new after this.
