nice haul...
|
Went down to Hidden Reef today afternoon to look at the clams. It was my first time there. The store was nice and the staff was very friendly!
They had a big tank with 4 sections of clams, here's some pictures of only 1 section. http://www3.telus.net/kpwm/clam1.jpg http://www3.telus.net/kpwm/clam2.jpg I got the bright colored one on the right http://www3.telus.net/kpwm/clam3.jpg The clam seems a bit big for my measly 20 gallon but I had to get it. Side view of the clam at home: http://www3.telus.net/kpwm/clam4.jpg My tank is rockin now but my wallet is taking a bangin |
whats the price around for one of these baby
|
Depends on the quality
It ranges from $129 down to like 50-60 i forgot. |
They look like Croceas. Any Maximas there?
|
i'm assuming maximas are the smaller kind?
i dont think they had any but you should ask jason (the hidden reef guy) to make sure. |
Actually, Maximas grow larger than Croceas. Croceas are one of the smallest of the giant clams. 14" for Maxima vs 9" for Crocea.
|
Picked this crocea up today. Should really take a pic from above the tank, but here it is.

Hey Tom R,
The pics that I have seen so far look pretty good, and $129 - $50 seem quite reasonable for clams of that grade. Come to Calgary for a visit and check out the shops. Any of us here would be ecstatic to have high price, and low quality like that. Mike |
