Oh and my halides were only on for two 2 hour intervals per day, and this week I bumped it to 4 hours straight. 2x250w DE is defintely too much light for LPS on this shallow tank, although I do have crappy bulbs in the fixture. ;) The light will work well on my 90 though. Quote:

wohoo! is there a FTS dance?
did you try scraping off a bit of coralline into the tank? |
Nice tank Mindy! With the new lights for this tank, I am sure your coral growth will increase now. We need to see a shot with the new lights!
What is the reddish coral center at the bottom of the rocks quite large --> is that an Acan?? http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...pril152009.jpg[/quote] |

So, I think you are right tang_daddy that the Open Brain is just starting to bleach a bit. It's not nearly as bad as the FTS makes it out to be though, so either you have good eyes or that's a good coincidence!! I also noticed my Lobo is showing the beginning signs of bleaching today as well. I also moved the Open Brain off to the side more. I haven't moved the Lobo yet though. Dangit, I knew these new MH would be too much for them!! I cut lighting back to two 2 hour cycles with 2 hours in between again. See how that goes, but I have a feeling I should just give them a single 2-3 hour shot. Any thoughts??
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...ril1720093.jpg Ok, here ya go es355lucille, here's with my crappy Coralife 10K halides (will be changing bulbs): http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...ril1720095.jpg And my RBTA suddenly showed some bubbles today! :D http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...ril1720094.jpg |
I think you became addicted to FTSs, which is always good.
If the MHs are giving you trouble, PM me your address and I will send you a prepaid waybill to get rid of them. |
 They are definitely a bit much on this tank (my original plan was to just use one of the MH lamps on the tank, and disconnect the other one), but this fixture should work quite well on my 90 that I will be setting up soon here.
But if all else fails, I will be looking for that waybill!! ;) |
Hey not bad for "Crappy Bulbs"!! he he .....it looks good!!
|
In person it looks a bit yellower. I like it to be a tad on the bluish side. Corals look nicer. :D
So...after a month of having the anemone and my True Percula completely ignoring its existence, my clownfish bad a break through today!!! Of course "Skipper" (the Kole as per my 4 yo niece) is not far from his best buddy. I'm sure Skipper would follow the Perc right in there if he could! http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...pril212009.jpg |
I dont know if i missed the post but whats the dimensions of your 33g?? BTW your tank looks real nice
