I have recently started using the small carbon pellets by Fauna Marin (which I carry) and I think it does a very good job. I may even try mixing it together with ROX to see if it will reduce the clumping.

Sure it will Greg. I mix the ROX with Kent Reef Carbon (aprox 70-30) and it helps stop the clumping.

ROX0.8 is already in a pellet format. FWIW.

Interesting. I have not had any issues with clumping with ROX. My only complaint with the stuff is that it's so small and lightweight, it works its way into the sponges of the reactor and thus when I change it out I have to spend a couple extra minutes to work back out of the sponge.

Dependent on flowrate through the reactor maybe?

Between the two tanks I'm running the ROX in a BRS reactor and a TLF reactor. There is no problem with the TLF; the BRS reactor however, does have clumping issues. It doesn't seem to matter what the flow rate, it still clumps. I give the reactor a shake every week or so and that seem to help, but it does require more maintenance than the TLF.

Well either way I will be getting some carbon in there ASAP and hopefully get another NextReef MR1 to run them in.

Ah, interesting about the BRS reactor. I've only ever tried the ROX in a TLF reactor and then a MR1 on the bigger tank (bought it originally for pellets but it didn't tumble the pellets as nice as a Vertex reactor so it was just begging to be used for carbon - but it does seem to work nice for the carbon).

RC has a couple vertex reactors in atm.....but thats niether here nor there, what reactor you run it in..... just run it:razz::mrgreen:.......even just in a bag in your sump in the meantime, perhaps?.....

I am going to get some carbon, clean up my 2 - TLF 150's and get them in as soon as I can. I like the NextReef MR1 so far for my vertex pellets and would like another for carbon.
