im bored again contemplating upgrading my 90g tank to a 120-130ish tank in same stand...is it worth it to put my fish and corals through all that......

I'd say no. That only gives an extra 6 inches of width. Not much for all the stress...

true....but i hate my hang on back lifereef overflow box its ugly and im thinking internal center overflow with diy rockwall back ground to reduce having to scrape the backglass and starfire glass 3 sides. tank has a few scratches that peev me off. as well is tempered and i cant drill it. this tank is in our living room, the first thing i see in am and last i see at night... id love to put a bigger tank in the spot. but i think the weight would be to much.

what spawned this is that i can get a 180g tank with crack infront pane for 180$. i can take it apart have the glass re sized and replace the three sides with starphire for less than buying all new glass for the existing tank. as well since the tank will be off the stand and i can possibly rebuild the lower partitions and reinforce to add a larger sump with refugium instead of the tiny 20g sump that is there. when i built the stand i had it for a freshwater tank. never thought id be doing salt.

ok that was more than a random thought but its my thought process at this time lol

Waking up at 4 am to the return pump sucking air and stepping in a puddle while inspecting is nevera good thing. :neutral:

Hahaha, YOU...and some others! :p

I was a dumbass and forgot to put the o-ring back in the return pump when I cleaned it. Then I was dumbass a second time when I didn't check for leaks after turning it back on. Put about 2 1/2 gallons into the carpet. *grumble* Carpet has now been fully drip acclimated. :neutral:

The Grizz 12-14-2011 02:06 AM

Grow them out a bit & frag some off to sell :biggrin:

Nano 12-14-2011 02:13 AM

thats my plan! I already have a frag of orange explosions that I bought for $10 about 2 months ago, and it had 5 or so heads, now its about 15-20! and From what I hear they can be pretty pricey sometimes! also some green apples, but they would just be like nano sized frags :mrgreen:

Sounds like natural and logical consequences to me. If she wants another iPod she should have to save up her allowance to buy one herself. By just giving her another one you are teaching her that it is ok to do something wrong and someone else will bail you out and you can get away with it.

I understand it was probably wasn't done on purpose and was a mistake but if a person doesn't have consequences for their mistakes how is that person supposed to learn anything.

Take it from me, my parents created a spoiled monster (mom says I wasn't so bad but I think at times I was) and I wished there was times were they didn't give in so much. Don't get me wrong at the time it was great but as an adult I still have trouble with people saying no to me and not getting my way or what I want when I want it.

I totally agree. I started young with Felicia. If she does something wrong, I don't give in and just replace it until she has "earned" it by helping around the house (either helping Mommy or giving Daddy a hand with water changes). Fortunately she is very careful with stuff so we haven't had that much drama over stuff being wrecked.

I know too many kids who break stuff and then their parents automatically replace it so they break it again and have no problems expecting mom & dad to go buy another replacement. Bad life lesson & creating a life long problem doing it this way.

My not so random thought;

I've been pretty much absent from Canreef for the last 22 months......and lately I've been here again, and I MUST say that I enjoy it, and am so glad that all the regulars (was going to say normal people but thought against it :lol:) are still here! I've missed Canreef ... you really are some of the best reefers and people!
