Ah ha! So that's why you so easily gave up your urchin that I've been wanting  and here I thought the pic. was of your smaller urchin in the small tank. Thanks for the frogspawn it's doing great
Hopefully everything goes smoothly with the new tank being built, I'm sure it will though  and yes I'm starting to convert to the idea of moving to Calgary. But only cause I'm sick of being apart and I love you and want to live with you. |

Wow that scolly is killer. I'm sure it'll heal up but I'll bet you pooped yourself when you saw that! I want those acans too!
Congrats on the new tank. I hear rumours about a large tank but can't recall if it was via you or someone else. Weren't you already sorta planning an upgrade? |

dont get married Doug - the sweet gifts are few and far between once you tie the knot. I got a 42" flatscreen as a gift from the GF (now wife) way back when. Now that we are married I pretty much get clothes for every gift or gift cards for home depot so i can fix or renovate something to her liking...
|
I dunno about that, My wife bought me my skimmer for a gift, once I figure out what kind of flow I want she's going to buy me that for a B-Day gift. Last year she was going to buy me a brand new truck, but I put a stop to that one once I caught wind of it..
Now that we have twins though... I'm not sure how long that trend will last. Remember Doug, Twins run in Lauries family..... |

I had always sort had it in my head that someday I would go bigger....I was just always worried about moving the thing, being that I rent.....also am worried about moving it given what happened the last time I moved:sad: Quote:

Beautiful stuff as always man. Looking at the photos it seems like you must have 100+ diff corals in there! What's a rough guess?

I thought I would post a short vid of my new additions......I know peoples track records with them......and Laurie thinks Im stupid for trying...........but Ive always wanted to do a group of fish........so, I added 14 chromis.......its only been a day, buts I can say that its really neat seeing the initial behavior.......the chromies were of course stressed when first introduced so they stayed in a tight ball formation for the better part of the evening..very cool to watch.......it was kinda weird, non of my usual bullies paid them any attention......most of my resident fish were curious but not at all aggressive....... they probably thought they were being invaded by little blue/green aliens:mrgreen:....... only one fish seemed really irritated by the new arrivals......my royal gramma.....usually one of the most passive fish I have, but man was he P oed.......it actually ended up being quite the show.....the gramma stayed "puffed up" and agitated for a couple hours......strutting and chasing and flaring and posing.........it was cool.......I wish he would do that more often:mrgreen:......anyway, its only been a day and the chromis are already starting to break into smaller groups at times.....I wanted to take and post the vid of them while I,..... A) still have 14 of them......and B) while they were still acting as a group, not individuals...... its just a short vid and it kinda looks like the Blair witch project because I took the vid with my I-phone..... http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...h_IMG_0072.jpg |
I love how they are schooling together. Very natural looking. Really makes the tank look big now.

Thanks Jon....Im quite fond of that setosa as well......Im so happy that it has pretty much stayed the same color as it was when I got it.......it isnt very big, but it sure grabs your eye when you look at the tank... Quote:

heres a question for you-all to ponder.....30"w tank.....existing 6 bulb T5 is 15"w......obviosly not going to cover very well.......original thought was to just get two more 6 bulb T5s.........but a 24 bulb, bulb change is an expensive thing......the budget isnt huge for an initial purchase so thats why the T5 route, train of thought originally.....what would you do......Im open to sugestions.... heres a few more pics http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5788.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5787.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5772.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5783.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5795.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5768.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5775.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5780.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5781.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5776.jpg |

well Ive started the stock piling process for the upgrade( let the wallet draining begin)......I have about 40 lbs of marco rock cooking/seeding in a rubbermaid with about 30lbs of both new and old LR from my sump...That coupled with the 150 lbs or so of rock in the display should be a good start....Ive picked up three buckets of H2Ocean and a couple boxes of IO...... will likely start the tank with IO and then do water changes with the H2Ocean.....I also picked up 120 lbs of new sand.......I need to get the stand built (going with a metal stand).....need to design a sump.......need to decide on lighting......need to figure out what Im gonna do for a skimmer.....the skimmer I would want is a BK 300int, but at $2400, thats something that is way out of my league......I thought about the big vertex cone too, but thats not really all that much cheaper in the grand scheme of things.......Im actually leaning towards keeping my BK mini 180 and adding another skimmer of a similar rating......the new sump should have plenty of room for two skimmers.......not sure tho.....one thing I am sure of is, Im going with an external pump......either a snapper gold, or a super dart gold.....if I do the snapper then I will run reactors off of their own pumps and the small tank(If I decide to plumb that in again) will have its own return.....if I go with the dart, then I will do a manifold to run the reactors and the small tank off of the dart....both my brain and wallet hurt just thinking about it all:mrgreen:.....
anyway.......moar pics http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5745.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5746.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5744.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5743.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5742.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5738.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5741.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5739.jpg http://i116.photobucket.com/albums/o...2/IMGP5740.jpg |
