kinda an interesting story Lance.......I have no idea where it came from.....I didnt even know I had it......when I was tearing the tank down to move it is when I found the fish.....all the rock was out and we were in the process of netting out all the fish when we noticed it.....I was like, "WTF is that!..I didnt add that fish.....what the hell kinda fish is that fish?" .....only thing I can think of is it came in on either a coral(highly unlikely, I thought) or in some rock.......I started trying to think when the last time I added any rock to the display and it was at least a year before I moved....this fish spent a year in my display without me seeing it.....freakin amazing, I thought....Mikey(who helped me move the tank) later found a link to what kind of fish it was.....I will go back in my journal here and find it.......anyway, in then died the following day when the tank crashed......kinda a crappy way for this fish that survived a ride home in a plastic bag with no water, then managed to live in my tank for a year without me seeing it, to die

oh, there is algae in there:wink:......little bit o volonia here and there....and some kind of caulerpa algae growing in the eggcrate at the top of the overflow......you just need to be selective about composition with your pictures so as to not get any algae in the shot:wink:

Lol why do you think most of my shots are of the exact same angles? Maybe if I start to embrace the algae and secretly love it... it will perish. Won't Murphy's Law or something like that come into effect?

fishytime 03-02-2011 10:30 PM

small update......I rolled the dice a little this last w/e.....Ive always wanted a flame hawkfish and Ive always not bought one because Ive always had shrimp in the tank.....In V1 my mystery wrasse ended up taking out all the shrimp in the tank and I ended up gettin a geometric hawk......still a very cool fish and I really loved its behavior, but not a flame hawk......V2 has three or four peppermint shrimp, one cleaner shrimp and one fire shrimp and now a wee tiny flame hawk.......everything Ive read suggests that if the shrimp are introduced first and are of a larger size then the mix is sometimes do-able......my shrimp were in first, are of a larger size and the flame is only about 2"(smallest flame hawk Ive ever seen)......we'll see how things pan out.....

I think you'll be okay. I have a flame hawk in with two skunk shrimp in a smaller tank then yours and they don't even really look at each other. There a cool fish.

lorenz0 03-02-2011 10:42 PM

Ha do you really trust a face like that. btw nice colors mang

lastlight 03-02-2011 10:53 PM

What a cute little guy I'd love one!

My pink prostrata is not looking as pink as yours right about now. It's actually starting to grow a little bit but for all I know it'll be green coral in a month.

Lance 03-02-2011 11:36 PM

Nice looking Flame Doug. The Hawk should leave the shrimp alone as they were already there. Unless, of course, he gets real hungry. Any new shrimp or crabs will be dinner though.

The Grizz 03-02-2011 11:42 PM

I never even thought of my Spotted hawk fish might be the reason I can't keep shrimp in my tank. Could it be.....

Nice Flame for sure Dougster and your coral colors look sweet too
