They are such a cool coral. I would love everyone to have one but are crazy crazy slow growers. I have only done 2 frags in over a year. Great score tho Doug

Delphinus 02-14-2011 05:18 PM

Sweet score! Looks different than what I thought strawberry shortcake was supposed to look like though? Although I think I like it right now the way it looks, I've always been a sucker for blue and purple combos.

It's sort of hard to tell in the pic.'s but it's really pink and green in person.

Ah well that sounds like strawberry shortcake indeedleedoo then. Although I must say "pink" and "green" are definitely two colours that didn't come to mind when I looked at them photos.

Where are people getting theirs from anyhow? Just curious: have seen a couple now in tanks but have never seen them in a store as yet..

Delphinus 02-14-2011 10:05 PM

If i can get them growing faster than yes . I need to keep the demand up and the only way to do that is kill the supply line . I would actually like more to enjoy this coral but its just a slow grower so far.

es355lucille 02-15-2011 04:24 AM

Ok Doug work your magic with that frag!!!...........lets see a huge colony so you can share.

MitchM 02-17-2011 02:25 AM

Just a quick note about those feather dusters -
Those guys feed on phytoplankton. (or is it zooplankton..)
Anyways, when you first get them they have a fairly large "crown" but will shed it for a smaller one to possible adapt to less food being available.
They will live longer if you could maybe feed them some DT's.

Grizz,

Have you noticed if yours is actually consuming the brine shrimp and growing?
The larger feather dusters can collect larger food particles, but only seem to bind them in mucus and expel them in their faeces.
They do really only digest phytoplankton.

I don't feed them a lot but have never seen them expel anything. I have read on a couple site they will feed on brine so I gave it a shot.
