hummm what to do??
i have 2 black leopard wrasses , they just arnt going to get along. i have the one whos less dominant in my overflow box ..... heres the kicker i love this fish , not really wanting to rehome him:( my options: option number 1- re home him to someone else?? option2- put him in my bonsai untill a later time option 3- let them stay together, no actual fighting is happening but the more dominant constanty follows and harrasses the other and stops him from hunting:( none of the other tanks in the house are suited for a leopard wrasse. both leopard wrasses are less than an inch in length and eating frozen/live:) |
I vote option 2 as they're cool fish
Wow, >1" ? Lucky you Edit: forgot you have glass substrate so that's a tough decision |
How big is option three tank
|
installed a red led behind the tank for a sunrise affect

yeah their tiny ,makes my melanarus look like a shark lol |
Leopard wrasse's dive into the sand at night to sleep, so unless you can add a container of sand to your 25g cube I would re-home him to someone else.

she sleeps in a pot of sand now the sand would go with her, shes going to snappy though:) |
cool beans someone gave me an awesoem idea for my bonsai tank with the red sunset feature im going to be installing a shadow box on the back of my bonsai tank, to give the appearance of a fading away background:):)
heres a link to what im talking about in case you dont know what a shadow box is:P http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...adowbox+thread |

i thought so too , since im going for a calm and peaceful look the shadowy background will look cool when the red/blue leds are on and also when the halides are on:) |
so i also now have some livestock plans hehehe since there are no fish in there now,no crabs or stealing shrimp.... im thinking some horses, wont be for a while untill i lose the halides for the radion but i think thats how its going to go :)
|
That'll be kool
|
I can't wait to see how this turns out. The shadowbox is a very interesting idea.
Geeze, Denny. Your tank is going to be so sumptuously appointed that you're going to need to hire an interior decorator to bring the rest of your place up to par. ;) |
Quote:
actually a move is in the works soon out of the ghetto to a nicer place:P:P |
forgot to mention i also added a red and white rock flower anemone to the tank as well from coral master....this thing is awesome,of course it finds a hard spot to get a pic of lol
thinned out all my larger colonies to smaller pieces on the bottom so now the tree has a more tree look to it:P |
Quote:
wait till you see this thing in person , its just one of those tanks where theres too much to capture in pics:) |
|
for all the poeple who say they wouldnt run a halide on a nano tank consider this:
my bonsaitree just about touches water level , the whole upper half of the tree is within 5-6" of the 250w halide bulb, and the rest of the tree is within 18" the upper half is almost grew in , all the zoas and palys up there have grown out , i notice also my cotton candy and watermelon chalice has grown since ive added it up there:) none of the anemones have moved either:P |
The only thing that stopped me from a halide was heat. With you using a common sump your heat is spread out between multiple tanks. Other than that I love halides
|
Looks totally awesome. A lot of those corals look like they'll need some space to grow though. It's pretty packed, even after your "thinning out" process.
|
Is that a stick I see?
Where did those kick ass blastos maybe go |
Quote:
the kick ass blastos are still there i made 2 frags to get them smaller. yes i know its a stick lol i got off snappy a bonsai and hulk acro. im using sps to fill in the empty spots, and to have some stuff that will grow up:P |
Quote:
thanks anthony, yeah im not too worried yet for the most part 90% of the tree is zoos , i have no problems cutting down my sps, chalices, favias and blastos as needed. i actually removed all the favias and chalices and fragged them yesterday and now they are remounted again lol :) |

lol yup, that is why i went with the bonzai look , i knew well in advance i would have alot of pruning to do , there will be some removing of corals as time goes by but its all part of the joy. |
If you go with Ponies, are you going to remove the SPS ?
|
Quote:
the horses arnt a sure thing yet just something im considering. if i do ill move the sps and the nems, either way that wont be for long time.....it will be just the harleys for a while:) |
added an orange suncoral to the tree tonight as well:P

its green is one of a kind , when i seen it in gregs tank i had to have lol and the bonsai was well....suited to the name lol the bonsai needs to colour up , its now starting to get colour:) |
the battles on!!!.......an unforeseen problem has encountered and the bonsai tree is under attack.....by PODS!!!
lots of feeding and no fish and thousands of breeding places created an army of feeding monsters. theyve gone zoo crazy and are digging holes in the stalks, crawling into the heads, probabably breeding as well.they leave a small hole in which pods go in back and forth almost like ants....they have colonized id say theres 6-7 full grown pods per square inch in my tank.....thats big ones who knows how many ones to tiny to see. release the hounds!!!!!!! my green mandy has now been sent into to defend the tree and bring the population down , shes only going to be a temp resident but i couldnt think of anything else to do. she immediately is gone on a feeding frenzy, wish her luck!!! |
Wow that didn't take long to colonize. My cubes been a month longer and I rarely see any. Though I did have about 30 hermits in there I guess it possible the take em out. Hopefully your Mandy does the job.
Still have the six line? |
Holy smokes.
Exactly what kind of pod has invaded? Amphipods of some sort? |
Quote:
heres a pic of the invader, whether its beneficial or not they have to go , they are causing viewable damage:( http://i924.photobucket.com/albums/a...wars/006-4.jpg |

ok change in plans....the battle is being lost , the mandy has been eaten by the elegance and is MIA ive pulled out the big guns no more messing around enter the yellow corris wrasse, she is now in the cube for 1 week and the harleys are on vacation. the corris is going right to town i give it 2 days tops, the are running in fear already lol ****ed my elegance ate the mandarin , and now the elegance doesnt look hot either as its not their reg food. |
How is your elegance holding up? I did not realize they could eat a fish as big as a mandarin. That is really disappointing. |
Quote:
not the best , today i moved it to qt for treatment , will see how it does over the next week or so:) |
yellow corris wrasse.......you are my bonsai god lol
not a pod in sight, they are all hiding in fear.....zoas already look 100x better after one day:) which brings me to my next thought. this tank cannot be ran without a pod hunter, the yellow is to large and aggressive to stay long term sooooo small pod hunters any ideas??? |
